one cut of the dead was pretty incredible. so many things to love there.

act 1 was a great standalone experience, but the payoff of act 3 was something else. loved it.

  2. From Beyond and A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 tonight. We'll see if third time's the charm for the latter, but From Beyond was a blast. Like a low-budget combination of The Thing and Re-Animator.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

NOES2 is a mess but weirdly charming

I tend to overlook it because of Dream Warriors and New Nightmare but I still like it

  4. I know it's beloved, I've just found it to be a bit of a slog the first two times I watched it, but here we are! Already enjoying it a bit more.

Very excited to follow it up with Scream, Queen.

The Cleansing Hour was...okay. Now I want some non-Christian-centric horror. I can think of maybe 3? Jewish themed horror films. Maybe one? Muslim horror with A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, but I'm not convinced that counts as to me it's simply a lady vampire who meets a decent human

Whatever you do, don’t watch The Possession.

Hopefully no one attacks me too much for this opinion, but I kinda think Elm Street 2’s the best film of the franchise......

I've been rewatching all the elm streets, halloweens and friday the 13ths since I haven't seen most of them since high school/college and overall I'm enjoying the Elm Streets the most

  9. I still haven't watched Nightmare on Elm Street all the way through. When I started it a month or so ago, I only got about 20 minutes into it before I got interrupted with work stuff and I haven't gone back to it.

But this weekend they are showing it at the theater across the street from me. The theater is a ghost town so I think I'm gonna go see it. What better place to watch a "new" horror movie than on a theater screen all to myself? Looking forward to fiiiiiinally seeing it haha

NOES2 is my second favorite after Dream Warriors. It's queer as fuck and I love it.

Also, Mark Patton is on WUSSY Movie Club this week if anyone is down for a podcast about him talking about horror and the documentary.

NOES fans: The With Gourley and Rust podcast is doing the entire series! The original NOES episode just dropped.

I love both of them but I don't know if I can add another 2+ hour podcast into my rotation.

Seeing Freddy destroy people at a party is so surreal and great. Going to throw on Freddy's Dead right now to wrap up the series. NOES 5 might be the worst movie of the big 3 franchises.

  16. Definitely enjoy NOES 2 more with each watch, although I wouldn't say I love it. Although I don't really love any of the movies in this franchise, I much prefer F13/Halloween

The podcast is so fun and nice to listen to though

I read that I should skip NOES2, so I didn't even bother with it. Wanted to get to the good stuff.

Cinemark did a contest today where you could sign up to rent a theater and have a free private viewing on 10/31 for up to 20 people, with about ten different Halloween related movies to choose from. I had Scream in my cart and was trying so hard to get it to go through but the site kept crashing and eventually it was sold out. Honestly that would probably be the only way I'd step foot in a theater until it feels safer.

I think they might be doing the same contest again next week so I will definitely keep trying.

Some of the other options were Beetlejuice, Hocus Pocus, Coco, Halloween (2018), Monsters Inc, The Empire Strikes Back (for some reason), and I don't remember the rest

I agree but at least it's a limited number of episodes. I plan on just listening to each episode as I get a chance to watch the films again. I'm not gonna be able to keep up with their schedule probably, but if takes me a year, so be it.

I got the Friday the 13th box set yesterday. The 4K Scans of the first 4 films is the clearest and sharpest I’ve ever seen these films in. I’m surprised they look as good as they do.
