  3. My $0.02 on the posts since last night is basically what several others have said: that it should be up to individuals to decide what they do and don't put on their lists. I really think that, among the people who actively participate on these boards, we have remarkably few truly "bad actors." Until proven otherwise I trust people to draw their own lines about what they include. For me I'm only going to include albums that have "shaped" me and that I continually return to and that still "shape" me in the present tense. For me, stuff like Devil & God and Heartbreaker, while undeniably of critical importance to me in the past, are on one side of that line (probably not getting included), while stuff like pre-2016 Kanye and say, the Stones, are on the other side of the line. I'm not sure there's a rhyme or reason to that since Mick Jagger was probably just as much of a sexual predator in his heyday as Jesse Lacey but that's where I'm at with it.

i think going 75-25 for points gives more proportion for repeat listings of albums than 50-1 already. you’re getting more of a proportionate bump for repeat listings.

my friend group just did this. 6 people ranking 20 albums 40-20 as opposed to 20-1. if an album is on three lists first and three last, going from 40-20 you’re making up for ~6% (.057 to be exact) of the total points. going 20-1, only 3%.

we constructed the lists both ways. going 75-25 should make for a more “objective” list, where repeated albums get a boost, whereas going 50-1 will give more of a boost for albums that people vote #1 on their list, and less elsewhere. i’m good with either. 75-25 is probably better.

I’m going to edit my post here in a few and add my favorite song from each album. I think that’s a cool thing so if someone isn’t familiar with an album/artist they have something they can check out or start with

Lol. It isn't that great. But for a stream of consciousness list that took 30 minutes to make, I'm happy with it. At least to get Bolt Thrower as an honorable mention.

let it bleed wound up being 51 on my list, kind of thinking of ranking the last half of the 100 I did.

part of the fun of talking about them is how riled they get. i mean, two in the top 50 is pretty indicative of loving them a lot, but people don't get all fussy over saying "I really like nirvana" lol

stopping tonight with the excel sheet on jorbjorb's list to resume tomorrow. more of just a note to myself so I can find this and pick back up at the right spot.

six lists so far. some interesting repeats. and a fair amount of bands that might end up not making the final list because four or five different albums by the artist pop up on the master list, but no repeats.
