Realistically, a correlation would be that interdependence and self-medication allowed him to disguise or distort mental health problems that most commonly onset during college-age years. Greek membership is phenomenally helpful for the social and emotional development of a lot of people, but can also be very detrimental to others, as the organizations are likely to attract persons who seek out that codependency or social reconciliation, and then direct them towards binge drinking, drug use, forming shallow social relationships, commodifying sexual relationships, etc.
