I kept refreshing like a mad man and saw them updating and knew it was coming so i focused there for a second.

 

I guess Target sold out in 5 minutes

 

My Target order was 15 or so minutes after. Site was a disaster though.

Walmart was the easiest for me. Got two within a minute of trying.

 

My GameStop has 4 S and 2 X

 

I can’t believe that was actually worse than the PS preorder. Amazing

Yeah that's exactly what happened, but also the sites sold out/went down really fast. And for the past five days all I've read online is how much better Microsoft is handling things, giving everyone an exact date and time, etc. But MS doesn't have control over retailers' infrastructure any more than Sony does, and now the sites are going down/showing sold out immediately after preorders opened anyway. The only difference was that the Xbox preorders went live at the time they were supposed to, whereas with Sony the stores all jumped the gun.

And just like I said last week about Sony, it's not Microsoft's fault. It just sucks and was always going to be bad for both of them.

 

Wonder how much Covid has effected supply issues. Seems quite possible neither company could produce the number of units they wanted but still made sure to at least release something, hence the stuff going out of stock almost instantly

 

Yeah, I never got the trashing Sony because preorders were listed early and the sites crashed. What did people think was going to happen haha.

 

Best Buy is up but the site is saying there is a lot of traffic

 

Ah yeah ok. I thought people's main issue was they just didn't even know WHEN to go get their pre-order in. If anyone expected stores to be able to handle that kind of massive influx after two basically back-to-back showings (PS5 and 3080) that their servers would struggle/crumble under that load, they were kidding themselves

 

I got mine through Targets site but it was super glitchy. First it was in my cart, then it disappeared. Then after typing in all of my info, I put the order through but it went back and I had to put the info in again. But after about 10 mins, success!

Now to try to land that PS5.

Yeah I mean the timing was a major issue but that wasn't Sony's fault. They explicitly said preorders would go live the next day and then Walmart went ahead and posted them anyway.

I also imagine that Microsoft was immediately on the phone with people at every Series X retailer threatening severe repercussions if they pulled the same shit this week.

 

Trying BB on the app and site since 11am. Nothing. Farthest I got was on the app and it let me select the store to pick up from but gave me no option to go forward.

 

I mean it's going to be a train wreck regardless right? Millions of people flooding websites to get the same thing, idk if there is a right way to do it.

 

I think part of it was also that Sony announced not more than a few days beforehand that they were producing a decent amount less for the initial rollout. So I think people were also just a little more desperate to get one, hence the more vocal outrage about the pre-ordering once all the retailers shit the bed

They announced no such thing. It was reported that that was the case and Sony disputed those reports.

 

The one thing that wasn't noted beforehand was that there were a lot less Digital Editions made so you had a ton of people going after the Digital which were limited.

 

I don’t think there a release day game for either console that’s exclusive that I’m really excited about. I still like having the newest consoles either way.
