the press release still says they will develop and publish their games. its more of a resource move to make the games better
but who knows i guess we will find out when starfield and elder scrolls get fully announced and give release windows and dates

 

Can they just replace Fallout with a new IP? That would be pretty cool

I’m excited for Wolfenstein being on gamepass as I’ve always wanted to try it out, but I am not a fan of the other Bethesda games. Oblivion and Elder Scrolls Online were enjoyable.

I also don’t think Microsoft is going to make any games be full exclusive, timed is the most likely scenario.

edit: I am interested in Starfield as well but I don’t know much about it

 

If you think MS is gonna gatekeep some of the biggest franchises in gaming and deny the sheer amount of money they’d earn via sales of new titles from said franchises on PS5, then you are high.

 

it would be like if sony went out and bought ea or activision or take 2 interactive or wb or cd project red and made all the games ps5 only. you are losing a lot of money and cutting off half the fan base. games will still see mutli platform releases

Anyway it all depends on their priorities with regards to video games

 

They were interested in doing that at one point but Nintendo is its own majority shareholder and they weren’t interested and very likely won’t be for years to come given their company culture

Bethesda Games’ world scale and functionality are still unparalleled when you get down to it. Everything runs on schedules. Every item is interactable. Etc.

The amount of money is staggering though.

At $15 a month, it would take people collectively paying for game pass for 42 million years to pay it off. Plus like, the costs associated with the development of all their games from all their studios.

At the same time, I guess its not really about making the 7.5 billion back. If this gets more people just buying gamepass it's still probably worth it for Microsoft given the piles of cash they are sitting on
