    I hate spoilers. Supporter

I've been planning on waiting for the album, and probably still will, but this MP3 talk is tempting the hell out of me.

    what a waste of wood

Not surprising to anyone who knows my posts here and on AP, but holy shit I am obsessed with this.

1000000, A MILLION may very well be my favorite Bon Iver song ever. Lump Sum being #2. I'm sure that will probably change before the day is over though.

    deathbreast >>> over soon

(they're both amazing, but deathbreast is just something else, can't stop listening to it)

I'm almost starting to think the same way. The end of deathbreast when the beat cuts and he breaks into that isolated falsetto. Jesus Christ.

Still need confirmation that he actually says "fuckified" haha but I love that part.

The song that I'm hoping changes or at least is a little shorter on the album version is 21 Moon Water. It's too long in the live version.

do you guys know where else i should post the recording? it got a lot of great feedback on /r/boniver but outside of that it hasn't really gone anywhere. i just crossposted it on /r/indieheads but i don't see it moving up much. i just want to make sure people know about it and replace their stream rips.

You could send it to news sites maybe? Not sure who and where you would be able to post it, but the people who'd want to listen and seek it out probably will find it through the channels you've already provided it on. It'd be funny if you single-handedly cause him to stream the album early because the quality is so good. Also, thank you so much. Because of you, I'm now a Bon Iver fan and am counting on this album to be in the top 5 of the year for me.

I'm probably not going to spend a lot of time with the live version, but it's definitely good enough quality to get what the band was going for with the songs and to enjoy them.

yeah- i tweeted it at a stereogum writer yesterday but they don't usually post bootlegs or anything. to be honest it's probably not a bad thing that it's not so popular, since i don't really want it to have a negative effect on the album's release. i think justin knew that playing it live meant there would be crappy streams of it available hours afterwards, so if anything having something that sounds better might even be positive. i don't know. not a big deal at the end of the day, and it won't really matter after the album is released anyways.

Then this album is already a 9.0 in my books. I'm generally pretty lenient in scoring, but this is such a huge breakthrough album for BI

I remember walking away from the set not knowing how I felt about it. Now I'm obsessed. Moon Water is the only track I don't absolutely love.

Same here, but I think with the shorter version, and the fact that it sounds like there's going to be a lot of interesting stuff going on production-wise, my view will change with the actual release. That's why I was asking, and now I can confidently say that it's going to be one of my favs.

And I wish my experience was walking away from the set. Sounds so much cooler than walking away from the youtube video that was playing the set haha

I didn't even know what to do with myself after walking away from that set. Went over and watched some songs by Cornelius, but then my friend and I just left because we were both wrecked emotionally from BI haha. What a fucking night.

  20. Heard the singles when I was on tour, just got around to listening to the live set at 4 am last night. Completely natural progression from BI, BI. Love the gospel feel. Now to try waiting for the real thing.

I think the one where they won the Grammy was that album already. As great as this album will likely be, so far it doesn't have the sound or aesthetic to appeal to the masses, so in what sense are you meaning?

I'm mean in a sense of taking the next step in terms of taking his sound and completely making it his own. Yeah, BI, BI appealed to the masses, but I (personally) think this album really pushes the limits of what his sound could possibly do, which was really only hinted at during small parts of BI, BI. Its the first album I can listen by him and say, "man, he's really doing something different here"

It does sound interesting - didn't like either new song at first listen but they grow on you. I'm starting to wonder if I don't prefer his work with Volcano Choir overall though - Bon Iver has turned into such a strange musical palate of sounds that its almost a bit much for me.

I could see those songs getting the same acclaim as Holocene. I think this album, and specifically those songs, have the same Grammy potential.
