No particular order. Also there aren't many Blink songs that are just Tom singing that are spectacular. Love Dude Ranch, but the songs he leads on are the worst of them.

 

Oh yeah I forgot how good LTG is. Adventure is up there for sure.

I remember hearing The Adventure on the radio and thinking blink had gotten back together. It was before I really started “following” blink.

Ok, so I was thinking about my Blink album ratings again last night, but I won't bother you or with it now, because it's already changing again! Lol

As far as top 5 Tom songs, gee. That's a difficult one that I've never really thought about before!

 

Of Tom's songs outside Blink, I'd say Elevator is my favourite. I know.

Also, There Is, And I, Letters To God, I Feel So and Watch The World. So basically only Boxcar Racer stuff.

 

Yeah, my top 5 Tom songs would only be Blink/BCR picks. Bottom 5 would only have AVA songs, haha.

I would've included Elevator but it's basically a Tom/Mark song. Same reason I didn't include Cat Like Thief.

Maybe I'd swap Sirens out of my list for Watch the World.

Yeah, I mentioned in the AVA thread yesterday that I actually really enjoyed the odds and ends demos!

 

I think My First Punk Song is worse than those two - at least Golden Showers has a cool guitar part.

 

Just a quick heads up that Skiba was on the latest Chris Demakes a podcast talking about Radio. But, also goes into how he approaches writing for the various bands. Said he struggled early on with his Blink input sounding too much like Alkaline Trio and Travis plays a huge part in the entire song writing process.

 

It was cool podcast for Matt/Trio fans.

 

Do you think Neighborhoods would have been received better if they went back to a joke album title and had better art direction for it?

 

No it would have been better received if they had better songs on it.

 

It might've been received better if it didn't sound like it was recorded with a tin can.

Someone reminded me yesterday of Untitled and Enthused. Those songs are great. But the worst songs on the album are Tom led: Voyeur, Boring, Degenerate, I'm Sorry.
Meanwhile Hoppus absolutely shines on this album. Waggy, Emo, Lemmings, Apple Shampoo, Josie and Dammit aren't just the best songs on the album, they're some of Blink's overall best songs.

Yeah Boring, Degenerate and Voyeur are the worst songs on that album. I’m sorry is fine but forgettable. Mark’s songs are just so good, as you mentioned.

Tom having the weakest songs on Dude Ranch is not even close to a hot take lol. Voyeur and Degenerate def get the skip treatment occasionally

 

They are bad songs, yes, but he also leads on some of the best on the album.
