So this is interesting, starting tomorrow, presumably to make way for mega raids, All 1-star and 2-star raids are now 1-star, and all 3-star and 4-star raids become 3-star. Basically meaning all pokemon that hatch from the same color egg in raids are the same tier. It's been confirmed that this does indeed mean formerly 4-star raids (like Tyranitar) are easier

You can mega evolve any pre-existing charizard, blastoise, venusaur, and beedrill. Theres literally no point to the raids. I spent a remote pass on essentially a crappy charizard. Not pleased.

After the first time you Mega Evolve it, it'll take 50 Mega Candies.

Well you have to do the raids to get the Mega Candies.

Is that gonna be the only way to get the candies? Still doesnt seem worth the trade off of a raid pass since 1 raid pass = 30 candies, so you need to spend 7 (SEVEN) passes to get enough candies. Nowhere near an equal tradeoff lol

You get more candies the faster you do the raid.

I'll probably do enough raids to get each mega evolution for my dex then be done

I don't care enough about the dex since there are so many regionals I'll never get. This is a hard pass for me.

If anyone gets a tl;dr or video explanation of how Mega Evo is going to work in the game can you post it in here?

I don't really understand fully myself. What I understand so far is that:

    - it costs "energy" to mega evolve
    - "energy" is pokemon specific like candy and doesn't take up item space
    - you can currently get beedrill energy during the special quest line
    - you can currently get blastoise, charizard and venusaur energy from battling the megas in raids
    - if you catch a mega from a raid, it reverts back to regular version
    - if you mega evolve, it doesn't last forever (i don't understand how long it lasts)
    - after you mega evolve once (currently 200 energy for the starters, 100 energy for beedrill), and subsequent mega evolves cost less energy

that's what i got so far

You get between 30 and 50 mega energy per raid depending on how fast the boss is beaten (and they are TOUGH, so bring a lot of people). The mega evolution lasts for 4 hours and can be used for other raids (when a mega evolved mon is used in a raid all the Pokemon are powered up). It takes 5 to 7 raids to get enough energy to mega evolve the starters ONCE.

It is a huge, shameful cash grab by Niantic for what is basically a dex entry, and they are getting a ton of shit for it on Twitter and Reddit.

This entire mega mechanic is way too much. I can’t believe this is what Niantic settled on.

Yeah, and it completely screws over players that cannot meet up with maxed out raids. Someone who only raids with 5 or 6 people will need even more raids to mega evolve once.
