He comes across as super likeable in that Rolling Stone profile imo. Learned a lot about him and I've been a fan since basically the start. He's really earned everything he's gotten, I'm super happy for him

Lol damn that's insane. I've been aware of him/a fan since he popped up on Cruel Summer/MCHG but that's a whole new level lol

Starting to think Birds is my favorite Travis project but I'm realizing he really hasn't had any missteps.

The run from "way back" through "goosebumps" is insane.

 

I feel like Birds was quickly dismissed by hip hop elitists at the time and even though I really liked it, I didn't think it'd have much staying power. Three years later and I found myself randomly singing "through the late night" in the kitchen lol

 

This is how I feel, sort of. I was pretty late to the trap wave, hell, I was a member of this site long before I liked anything aside from pop-punk. Astroworld came out my senior year of high school and I liked it but it took a while for Travis to grow on me as an artist.

I find Birds to be realy cohesive and dark, which is a nice contrast to Astroworld's brighter feel.

 

Yeah I was introduced to Travis when Antidote blew up in 2015 but I didn't even recognize I was a fan until I had birds and astroworld on repeat 2017 literally to today. He's had such a weird career trajectory where he's been in the mainstream for years but underestimated or dismissed by critics, all while he constantly tops charts, gets Grammy nominations, has his own label, and signs new artists that now have hits of their own. Not to write a book, but it's just kind of wild to think about.

 

Birds is pretty easily my least favorite album of his but it does have a few of his best songs ever like The Ends, Way Back, Through the Late Night, Pick Up the Phone and Goosebumps. The rest doesn't do much for me though, it's not as creative/off-the-wall as he usually is imo
