I think this is perfectly in line with the sort of liberalism Clinton represents. It is interesting to see liberals, who were anti-war at one point, so wholeheartedly embrace the Bush doctrine as their own, as a new manifest destiny for America. More than that, the superficiality of those arguments, along with attacks on the left that misunderstand a rejection of Clinton and an analysis within that framework, confers more weight on the left than actually exists. It is comparable to what is currently going on with Labour and Trotskyists; that is, the radical left is viewed as a specter that will lead to conservatism, even though the conditions in which we find ourselves - one of reaction, hatred, brutality, war all the time - was constructed by liberals. It is interesting and it demonstrates that perhaps liberals aren't as stupid as I thought when it comes to understanding this political moment. In other words, they are striking against the left in order to form a bulwark against actual change.

I like how he laid out volumes of reasons to not vote for Clinton, without ever seeking to effectively dispute them, and then throwing a hail mary that the reader would only care about the "but Russia" at the end. Also, hasn't the myth of Trump getting any substantial support from leftists been debunked?

Anyways, here are the recent articles from that bastion of morality and learned critic of leftist motivations and history:

    "Liberals Downplay Radical Islamic Terror"
"Yes, They Want to Take Your Guns Away"

The Nightly Show got cancelled :(

It wasn't as good as Colbert and the correspondents and their contributions generally sucked, but Larry's A Segment has been sooooo much better than Trevor Noah lately, for the most part.

  9. Once Jon is up and running at HBO there won't be much reason to look to Comedy Central for that type of programming anymore. Unless Trevor steps it up.

Sucks about The Nightly Show. It was really bad at the start, but they had stepped up their programming substantially as of late. Hopefully Wilmore still gets his screen time.

What's he doing at HBO? I remember hearing something going on but figured it was more a behind the scenes type deal.

Related note--how do I pitch an idea to CC to let me host a political show? totes could do it...TOTES

Also I don't think the Daily Show can go on with Trevor much longer....his delivery and all that just doesn't fit as the host. My guess is they let him finish out the campaign and then start quietly looking to replace him.

John Oliver was the best chance they had at replacing Stewart. There really isn't anyone else I can think of that would work. Maybe Hari Kondalobu.

I thought Wilmore's show was good. I'd hate to see them give those slots to white guys.

Though her style is different, I think Samantha Bee could have been successful. Though it's hard to argue that her show doesn't fit her style as a host waaaay better than TDS would have.

    ooo, good thought on Hari....

I was very excited when they decided on him, and I thought he could be a very good replacement.

However, he just hasn't worked out. He hasn't been nearly bold enough in forging his own program.

Trump and his cronies can say anything they want and people will eat it up. It doesn't matter if it's true or not. This election reaches new lows every single day.

Not exactly his fault, we've become accustomed to Stewart and a break from that style is doomed from the start.
