    achin' to be Prestigious

I remember years back the band tweeted a photo of all the bras they collected on tour that were thrown to them on stage by female fans. i'm willing to bet a good chunk of that came from underage fans which adds to the grossness.

Pretty much my stance always. Yeah I could listen to Pinegrove/TOOL, and just not think about it. Though it’s so much easier/fulfilling not to. There are so many great artists out there.

Also all music and art is personal unless they are really bad at making music

Been saying it for years- you can’t separate art from artist in a scene where the entire idea is that the music is from the heart.

Honestly I feel like this is a problem that can be fixed but just never is. There have been tons of good records come out just this year yet some people care more about the new New Found Glory record, new Blink songs, etc. (bands who have problematic members). I know the actions of members of both those bands aren't "horrific" (they were just the first to come to mind) but it would be nice for more people to just step back and take a critical look at the music they support and perhaps explore other music out there from non-problematic people (which is so easy to do thanks to this website, Spotify, Bandcamp, etc. and like I said, there's lots to explore from just this year alone).

It's weird too to see people support those bands while preaching accountability. Like, you're making an exception for NFG/Blink? lol wild

I think a part of it in some circumstances is simply not knowing about the problematic. There's been a few people who didn't know that X band member(s) did/said something until I told them about it.

A lot of people are casual listeners and don't follow music news, and so unless the news of someone's actions are heavily circulated (like what happened with Ian Watkins) then they may never know until they're told by someone that they know.

I mean...Chad's past behavior is pretty widely known and the issues regarding Blink have been discussed numerous times in their own thread and also aren't a secret elsewhere. If you are an active member of this website, or even just a fan of either band, and are not aware, you just aren't paying attention/are willfully ignoring the problematic aspects of the musicians you support.

Yeah, that argument may work when it comes to some whoever that listens to music casually and doesn't engage beyond that. But it's absolutely invalid when it comes to people active in online communities - especially this one - where people go out of their way to make sure this information is known and in return it is then met with aggression or flat out ignored.

Exactly. I edited my post a little bit because I do think if you call yourself a "fan" in any way, not just an active member of a forum like this one, you ought to be aware of who you are supporting. If you're just someone who knows the hits and nothing beyond that, I can understand not knowing what's up, but any person beyond that should be aware.

Those Cee-Lo Green tweets should have ended his career in 2014. Maybe they did though because he doesn’t seem to have much of a career these days?

All the conservative dudes losing their mind over WAP lyrics is absolutely hysterical. Might as well hold up a sign that you’re completely ignorant about women.
