I wonder what the mainstream reaction would be for a fun. reunion.

Whose a bigger band right now, a reunited fun. or Bleachers?

I am one of the few people that enjoys fun. way more than Bleachers. I do not get the appeal of Bleachers sophomore album. I think it's a complete flop. I've been hoping for a fun. reunion for too long.

As far as the overall population goes, I think a reunited fun. would probably be bigger than Bleachers. Everyone knows 1-2 fun. songs, and I assume most people don't know any Bleachers songs (even though Jack is fairly well known from his production work now).

I probably prefer Bleachers to fun. at this point, though I'd love more records from both bands. If The Format were making new music and not just doing the reunion shows, I'd probably be happier with that and another Bleachers album than if we got another fun. album but it delayed or took the place of the next Bleachers album.

  7. Weird Twitter thread there. Maybe I'm just out of the loop, but has there been label trouble with Nate in recent years?

I was wondering the same thing. He seems bitter about songwriting/recording and/or his label. I want to assume he's happy about just being a dad and just being drawn to whatever life he's choosing, but some of his comments make me wonder if something just drove him away from releasing music.

Well his record bombed pretty bad. I'm sure his solo record deal expected him to be a lot more popular than he is/was. He's probably got enough Fun. cash saved or still rolling in, where he doesn't need to work until he wants to.

I'm curious who will all be involved in the inevitable Fun. reunion.

It will always perplex me that these dudes released one of the most popular songs of the decade only to break up three years later.

  12. I always thought of Fun. as a supergroup—which rarely exist for very long. If they did a reunion, it would be a very pleasant surprise. If they didn't, I'd be very happy listening to their short discography for the rest of my life.

Maybe in hindsight, but at the time they were just a really good band that cut their run short.

nate just hates the music industry. and can you blame him? it sucks the fun out of creating art especially when you get to the level he was at with fun.

no no no, let's focus all that energy on getting The Format going again...

    Hey, remember Absolutepunk?

"And me, I wouldn't call it a sophomore slump, no, I'd say
I'm one step closer to bein' just where I want to be
Away from this scene, away from this machine"

    - The Format, "The Compromise"

It's a whole song about how he hates the way The Format was treated once they were signed to a record label that had all these big expectations for who they would be and what they should do. I think Nate knows the machine well enough that he was able to write some big hits and cash out to live his life in peace.

Love Nate, but that solo album wasn’t my favorite. Aim and Ignite is an all time album for me.

Think the dudes in fun. are the type to appreciate letting something good burn out instead of fading away. I prefer that approach myself too. preserves the legacy.

Dog Problems and Aim + Ignite may be my favorite back to back albums by any individual artist (although from different bands). So good. Give me new Nate music in any form.
