It was considered....but I ended up watching more long form videos with him where they really get into deep stuff from an objective challenging point of view...so I don't agree with your point of view on this particular person and why would I change my mind to appease you? Also genuinely asking how do you have so much info on who he is and why his platform is not even worth considering? What long form discussions have you watched him on that led you to this conclusion?

why does it have to be a long form discussion? ive seen many, many of his tweets, which if im not mistaken on what twitter is, are his unfiltered thoughts and ideas and its a completely valid way to judge him and his beliefs. but ive also seen his many rubin report appearances and his rogan appearances. and yeah, its mostly clips, but sorry i dont believe you need these full three plus hour convos to get full context for a 10 minute clip, the clips explain themselves just fine. the guy is a huckster just like the company he keeps, and you can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep. if you hang out with (and give a platform to) racists, transphobes, and homophobes in the name of "free speech" and "the marketplace of ideas," you're guilty by association.

 

If you look up Bret Weinstein on Twitter, you don't have to look far to see posts about how the federal government rounding up protestors in Portland is ...good, actually? I imagine Jason would have some strong language in response to that, if he feels like suffering through engaging that bullshit.

Oh, and one of his recent POC guests is someone whose pinned tweet is overtly mocking towards trans women.

 

In the modern philosophy of science, truth is defined as the opinion of the greatest number of experts in a field after due consideration of all evidence from all studies. Truth is contingent, never final, and subject to attempted falsification.

This is the standard we can apply to any issue. You don’t accept what any one person says; they can be confused, wrong, biased, lying, committing fraud, deranged, have malformed sense organs or ones not working, etc. You compare notes, consider the best informed minds, use math and statistics if possible, consider all alternative explanations. That's what I respect about Weinstein and the people he talks to that have all different point of views in their discussions.

This is as close to objective as you are going to get. The Holocaust occurred, global warming is real, evolution is true, Obama was born in Hawaii. Are you allowed to present competing evidence? Yes. But there is a most objective view. Is it as objective as "God’s" view? No, but it will do.

 

im telling you twitter is the most pure way to get someones true thoughts and beliefs. they can dress up their language all nice and polite on a podcast but when your unfiltered thoughts come out, you show who you really are.

 

alright then ive come together with some of the best informed minds and we've compared notes and decided bret weinstein and his IDW crew are all completely full of shit and nothing but a bunch of grifters. this is an objective truth we've come to.

 

Ok so if you haven't seen any long form nuanced discussions with him then I guess we really can't discuss him in totality and the discussion is over.

if I'm honestly not welcome here I'll leave...I thought people might actually want to have a discussions but if I'm making this place miserable for people or uncomfortable or metaphorically bang their heads against walls I don't want to invade this space.
