Can i ask again what pro-trans voices you have been listening to in order to weigh your own ideas?

In regard to what exactly? If it's safe physical/emotionally/mentally for a child to be on puberty blockers? Have surgery? What?

Just generally asking, which trans people have you heard discuss their experience? Which medical experts dealing with trans issues have you listened to? Which trans charities and organisations have you paid attention to?

yeah but what are you reading, like by whom and what are they saying about it

"Postmodernism" is an extremely broad term for a philosophical approach to many different things. Postmodernists are often critics of capitalism, but that's about where the strict connection between any socialists really come into play. A lot of people who don't really know what they're talking about love to lump the two in together (Jordan Peterson is a famous example -- Slavoj Zizek asked him to provide names for all these vague Marxist thinkers he would ramble on about, but he completely failed to do so in front of a massive crowd and it was pretty embarrassing for him), but it's pretty silly because postmodernists are often very critical of socialists and vice versa. The most popular book by the famous Marxist Fredric Jameson is all about shitting on postmodernism, for example

Yes...I think extremists hi- jacked it. The protests used to be about systematic racism and police brutality and equality and now it's turning into Robin DiAngelo type followers who hang on the every word of a white woman hired for "diversity trainings" where she is making tons of money of of peoples racism or supposed racism

So did extremists hi-jack it, or did flaky white liberals hi-jack it?

and thats not to accept the premise that it's been hi-jacked in anyway

You honestly don't think extremists on BOTH sides have other intentions???

what are these both sides and who are these extremists? cause according to many, I’m an extremist, and people like me have been put on lists by this government.

Have a good rest. I honestly don't want to say this in a way that will cause offence, but the framing of a lot of the issues that you raise here - coronavirus, trans, BLM - suggests to me that you're receiving a lot of your information from sources that are less than healthy. I don't want to push you out of the community because Lord knows ive had a lot of my own bullshit corrected here, but might i respectfully suggest that you keep following this thread just to read and learn? Think of it as a way of expanding your own echo chamber.

It seems like Ramona is correct in that Diangelo and her ilk do suck and generally spread bad ideas with no intention of actually helping end systemic issues, but it's a huge stretch to say that they have "hijacked" anything just by virtue of being kinda popular within a particular sphere of people. Especially with something like BLM, which is a very diffuse movement and has no real hierarchy to "hijack" even if you wanted to try it.

BLM is more vulnerable to being watered down and it is being watered down in its acceptance, but who are these extremists??

Cause if anything this movement has to get more radical or something else has to grow out of it and I hope it’s more black power, abolition, decolonization, socialism, and anti-capitalism.

I think something a lot of people don't get unless they're involved in a good amount of grassroots political stuff, is that there are always going to be tons of people who are most interested in spreading whatever ridiculous bullshit they think is correct, even if it is completely divorced from the ideas of the activists that start movements or take on greater leadership roles. When you have something with no literal "leadership," you get a situation where journalists or even passersby can simply go up to any rando in a protest and interview them, and then the perception being spread is that such person is in some way an authority on the protest itself or the ideas behind it.

Diangelo is not just some rando, and yes she is very successful for someone in her line of work, but to even say that she is even an authority on BLM or speaks for the broader movement is to misunderstand how this whole thing operates. She's just one person (who afaik is not even really involved in any protest movement), she's not a leader of anything or anybody.

I literally have a Tesla Model 3 ordered to arrive next month but I am genuinely considering cancelling my order because I don't want to have to think of Elon Musk every time I have to drive somewhere. He's such a moron.

I’ve heard too many horror stories of people getting Tesla’s with all sorts of fit and finish issues (massive panel gaps), paint issues, cracked a-pillars, and all sorts of other shit that any normal car company would not be sending out/get skewered for. Seems a lot of this gets glossed over because it’s such a cool car. It seems the quality of your car is based on if they are rushing to meet some ridiculous production goal to keep their stock price pumped.

Not mention the Musk factor involved as well.
