When I was in 6th Grade, I totally fell down the Atheist Libertarian rabbit hole on Youtube.

Thinking it was okay to call feminist critics like Anita Sarkeezian "Feminazis" and discriminate against Muslims from working in grocery stores because they didn't want to touch pork products.

Fortunately, my mom shamed me & my friends made fun of me, so yeah, shaming absolutely works.

Yeah my politics were shaped by early Rise Against, Anti Flag, and American Idiot. Thankful my older brother got me into punk when I was 14 before I ended up moving to a super conservative town on the Oregon Coast during high school. Otherwise it may have taken much longer for me to smarten up due to lots of ignorant influences.

My dad going to Iraq sophomore year of high school also drastically changed my views as well. That happening in combination with my new found love for political punk shaped my views at such a young age.

Is the NYT low-key implying that calling a fellow congress member a "fucking bitch" isn't "norm-shattering"?

Also-- why do peoole on this thread tend to dislike TYT?

I don't agree with them on everything, but they seem to come from a good place, and have a huge platform to push for progressive politics.

Cenk personally is kind of a piece of shit isn’t he?

I’ve mostly not liked them because I’ve always felt like they tend to fall into the “non-ideological left” bucket, in that they seem to have a lot of free-floating ideas not really connected to any basis of thought, in a way that makes it seem like they reach the right conclusion almost by accident, if that makes sense. I would put people like Tulsi or Kristal Ball or most people associated with the Green Party in the same bucket.
