  1. When you’re repeating all the same anti trans talking points as all the ‘famous’ anti trans folk ... maybe it’s time to re-evaluate where you’re getting your information and what you’re letting in through the filters. This is a whole lot of boiler plate TERF shit.

As an aside, one of my favorite category of posts is the “I just got dunked on for a while and now I’m gonna make one last dramatic ‘I’m out’” post.

it’s always fun to see what direction they take it in.

I've had many arguments with Rogan fans and they all go exactly like this lol. they really believe they see all sides and I've been brainwashed, as if getting all your information from the most popular podcast in the world is somehow the most radical shit.

@RamonaQuimby, I feel like there was a similar blowup with you in here in relation to coronavirus & Chinese culture.

I’m sympathetic to this recurring struggle of yours. I had some posts early on in my time on the old forums (which, thank goodness, are gone now) where I shared a political viewpoint, got attacked, & didn’t understand the problem. I think my first political post over a decade ago was sharing an article claiming that, like, the New Deal wasn’t actually a good thing or something? I think I joined too late to make any dumb “the Civil War was actually about state rights” posts, but there was a little window there where I also would’ve shared something dumb like that.

I’m admitting to this past stupidity of mine because a lot of your posts I’ve seen have seemed like someone who’s genuinely curious & seeking out truth, which is an objectively good mindset to have. But, I know from experience that, at certain stages of that process, it’s easy to get caught up on certain ideas.

So, my suggestion to you, based on my own experiences, is to be careful what hills you wanna die on. And, be careful which voices you listen to uncritically & which ones you refuse to engage. Even when the other party’s tone gets rough (which is usually for a pretty good reason that you’ll understand later).

If you’re like me (& maybe others here), you’ll learn a lot. (And, get to be embarrassed by your past self; holy fuck do I wish I could take certain things back! But, it’s ok.)

Most of my political posts on AP were being mad at Birdman about racial issues

idk if you had asked me 1-2 years ago I would have thought the same, it took a lot of personal experience for me to learn to just tell them to shut the fuck up.

I've learned a lot by posting something dumb in here and getting dragged for it. I've learned even more from people making that same mistake. That's gotta be how a ton of people learn about politics on twitter.

idk I know from personal experience that Ramona is an exceedingly nice person and I am sure she will be sympathetic to most if not all of your points if you engage her in a non-toxic way.

I don’t meet transphobia with kindness when the trans community is literally fighting for their very existence every damn day. Sorry but it’s a nope from me!

nothing specific just the general idea that republicans don’t consider the Northeast or the west coast to be the “real” America

Oh wow, I honestly never heard that viewpoint before, having lived in the Northeast my whole life, raised in a conservative household. I find that surprising given how historical Boston is, but now I'm curious to read more on what weird ass reasoning republicans would have for thinking that :crylaugh:

It’s because we’re all blue states. Blue states aren’t real America to conservatives.

do you ever wish this site has the same sorta influence in the music scene as it did back then?

I only read the politics forum on ap and never engaged because I just enjoyed reading and wanted to learn, but...I think like 85% of those threads were people mad at Birdman about racial issues and his general politics. Every time someone asks in here about Birdman it makes me chuckle. Even I was sitting there reading his comments like “ugh not again, someone come and — oh!”
