why are you guys such assholes, the toxicity in here is fucking disgusting

I'm not trying to be!

 

This notion that LGBTQ+ Youth accidentally misidentifying their own gender is a problem on the same level of other people criticizing or questioning their identity is absurd.

It feeds into this stereotype that Trans kids are attention whores whose identity is a burden to others. I'd much rather give kids the space to make mistakes and learn that it's okay to experiment with different labels until they find something that fits, than tell them they have to choose 1 lane in order to be take seriously.

As a queer person, the idea trans kid can't be taken at their word is insulting & causes internalized transphobia.

 

So they should start something like puberty blockers/hormones as soon as possible? That's insane and dangerous. Give them time and space to learn who they are first damn....

 

This is literally insane and disgusting as especially to someone who has worked as a nanny for 20+ years and has studied child development and raised multiple children. You should be ashamed of yourselves that you want zero oversight on a life changing surgery. I'm out.

I never know for sure. I just assumed I was included. Frankly that's how most people are in 2020 and I'm trying extremely hard to come out of it myself.

 

Look, it’s a big fucking planet, filled with a lot of people, a large portion of whom have no idea how to listen to the most basic knowledge we currently have in relation to COVID. So, sure, maybe someone wanting to prove a very specific, very bad point can find a fringe example or two of medical malpractice around transgender youth & spin it the way antivaxxers & 9/11 truthers & qanon do.

But, it’s incredibly reckless & damaging to pretend that the macro problem is over-acceptance of queerness, not the marginalization of queer people.

It’s especially frustrating when you threw this out there:

Throwing out these boogeymen is like when white suburban people drudge up examples of black crime to justify their prejudices. It’s not truly indicative of the bigger picture, & it ends up misleading people (like, seemingly, you, which is heartbreaking & infuriating to see) into buying into narratives that further marginalize queer people.

 

There are countless articles, studies, and of course anecdotal personal evidence about how traumatic puberty can be for trans kids and how much happier/safer/healthier they are when allowed to explore their gender openly and with acceptance from a young age. Whatever that means for that specific child is up to them and needs to be supported. It’s incredibly harmful to spread misinformation about trans identity and the “dangers” of being able to make decisions for their own lives as soon as they are able.

 

Everything I said is 100 percent rational, true, and happening.

 

I mean I don't love what you're saying but you're not the one belittling others.

 

I'm not piling on her with sarcasm but also she is definitely belittling others a bit lol. A lot of assumptions being made that the people responding to her with valid points are actually just closed minded and haven't done the research and etc.

 

I know this is not your intention, but this is incredibly condescending to trans people. I think the number is like 99% of trans people don't regret transitioning? Why should this person be forced to make the decision with their family when too many families would flat out refuse to let them be themselves?

And yes, seeing quotes like, “A biological male who hasn’t even gone through surgery yet,” to refer to young trans women is truly heartbreaking and upsetting. That’s SUCH a dangerous way of speaking about trans people and that sort of thinking leads to tangible harm against them in our society. Trans people are not tricking anyone or hurting anyone just by trying to exist safely at any age, and their identity is not more or less valid if they have had any kind of confirmation surgery. Whatever they need or want to do is valid for who they are.

Sighhhhh. Peace y'all. I hope you all will do some critical thinking and medical reading on this soon and not just on the side you want to believe. Look at the whole picture for the truth as should be done with most things. Bye!

 

There's a point of frustration I reach where I just say, fuck it... IDGAF anymore.

 

I didn't realize doctors and nurses just listened to the JRE everyday instead of medical school
