Ughhh as the days go on the more we're leaning towards having my brother do online school again for at least this semester because in-person school is going to be an absolute shitshow and breeding ground for the rona but I really don't want him home all day by himself because he's not going to do his schoolwork and he may potentially burn the house down

Maybe hard to find for older students but maybe there’s a small co-op of homeschool students he could join? Somewhere people go to meet and do schoolwork, like someone’s house. Yes still a Rona risk but WAY less than a real school.

    I have not
But I know if it was just bones it would be called a skull not a head!! Lol

What about setting cameras up so you can keep an eye on the "pups"?

It's overall a shitty situation people need structure, are they not doing staggered learning

Yeah this may not be a bad idea I just don't know how to even find something like that lol we don't know anyone around us that has kids that age that would be going to the same school :/

I've thought about doing this but then i'm also like ugh I really don't want to spend all this money on cameras just because the kid is a dumbass lol we already have to pay to feed him

Yeah I think their plan is to have some kind of staggered schedule with half in-person and half remote I just don't know what it looks like exactly. Our biggest concern is that there's a lot of people who don't take this too seriously in our area, we were the first to reopen because they all freaked out and didn't want to close in the first place, so the parents of these kids could be super contagious spreading it to their children and so on

Try the next door app or a local Facebook group. I can damn near promise there are other people looking for the same thing

It doesn't have to be a same school/age thing. My sister did homeschooling for 8th grade (a few families from the church i work at also homeschooled) and the co-op was mixed ages and definitely not based on districts.

Nextdoor is highly entertaining...full of people complaining about fireworks and those rotten kids riding bikes through lawns.

Yeah especially with it all being online there’s even less need for that

but ideally still having a “tutor” who is making sure people are working and is there to help out etc

I wish all these online options were available when I was in school. Absolutely would have picked that over traditional classroom learning. Pretty sure I heard more Napoleon Dynamite quotes than facts.

In-school suspensions were the closest thing lol

I’ve gotten this far into the pandemic without know what next door is and idk if I’ll know what it is coming out of the pandemic

Oh yeah he definitely needs either a tutor or like someone who takes the lead and is "in charge" because if he doesn't know something he gives up right away, he needs someone to kind of hold his hand to get through his schoolwork lol
