I am not exactly what one would call a history buff

in other words all of the founding fathers are the same to me. Old and musty white dudes who owned slaves

 

Most of the revolutionaries in Hamilton were outspoken against slavery and favored abolition, but they also profited from it and, in some cases, had slaves

Jefferson had a relationship with a 14 year old slave , but you're right they were all gross

Pretty sure John Adams was the only founding father to not own any slaves.

I don’t think this is true at all. Franklin did towards the end of his life but Alexander Hamilton, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson all had slaves, in addition to like 110% being able to do something about it

Yeah we need to teach kids far less Washington and Jefferson and more Adams and Paine. And well, you know, far less white people in general too.

Learning about Thomas Paine in the French Revolution is very interesting. He was way over his head.

We need to go together!! I love it so much!! I saw a local production when I was a kid that was pretty great. And I’m very interested in how this reimagined version will turn out. I think since I have SUCH an emotional connection to the movie and original cast it will help me not compare the revival unfairly since this will be so different.
