said he was inspired by a blacklivesmatter protest, wonder how evident that will be on the album?

Don't think it's as good lyrically as Hammerhead (the obvious comparison when you think of 'mass shooting songs') but then Hammerhead is one of the Offspring's best songs ever, so...

I didn't think I could still get this excited for new music, Green Day is literally the only ones that can make me feel this much anticipation

I fucking love this song, was not expecting such a fast lead single

Yeah, I'm in love with it. Of course my power went out right before it premiered so I had to quickly download the tunein radio app on my phone. But it's great. Passionate, purposeful, masterfully done. So so excited for the rest of this era.

The best a Green Day song has sounded production wise in a loooong time. Pretty good. Still would need to hear more before I bought it but a good start.

Good Riddance is one of my favorite songs ever so I am glad this album has a short acoustic ending. Also, I'd kill for another Macy's Day Parade. I am such a sucker for that stuff haha

Green Day is my *favourite* band, regardless of how much my taste has changed since I first found them, and I loved a lot of the trilogy, but my god I love Bang Bang. Yes, it's generic Green Day/whatever you wanna call it, but it sounds so good and the lyrics are a lot more inspired than they've been for the past few years. Colour me very excited for this album

I wouldn't call this generic Green Day. It feels new to me.

Maybe not "generic Green Day", but it's pretty standard fare as far as structure and overall style goes for the band I feel, not that that's a bad thing at all. It just sounds so raw. I agree it feels new in that we've actually got a single that has almost the sound of older GD tunes, that energetic vibe that's been lacking since almost AI.

Hopefully WhiteTim will shut up about the production now ;-p

I totally get what you mean. This is the most passionate and urgent they've sounded since AI for sure, and I love it for that. As for it being standard fare, I still disagree. This sounds like they've taken everything they've learned in the last decade and crafted something new out of that. Of course it still sounds like Green Day, it's always going to have that signature sound. But this feels like more of an evolution to me.

And LOL at WhiteTim. Glad to see a fellow GDCer over here, @tdlyon and I get lonely.

Is Jason White an 'official member' or what? That whole thing is confusing. He's still called "touring guitarist" in every article I've read today.
