Look at your save file and tell me what the time is and I can estimate it pretty closely from there

The average if you just go straight through is around 21 hours, but with extras it's 25 and from where you are in the story it sounds like you're probably closer to 6 hours away if not a little more.

Sounds like you've been exploring a lot!

Thanks for all the info! Yeah I take my sweet time, the completionist in me needs to explore everything before I can move on. Actually my only complaint with the game thus far is that sometimes it's hard to tell what doors are going to progress the story and which ones are for exploration. Missed a few things because of that.

Yeah I always gravitate towards the non critical path in games that have exploration like this, and it sucks when you accidentally open the crit path section. Then triggering a cutscene. Lol

Oh, then you have quite a bit to go before you beat it if you take your time. There's a lot of places to explore and things to read.

I create content for some of your favorite artists

I explore on the basis that if I have to do a hold button press to get through an obstacle thats most likely the end of the area

Can you back out when the hold button part pops up? I thought I tried one time and was unable to but I could be wrong

Finished it today, incredible journey. Have no idea why people were so sure it would be awful. The concept is about as perfect as I can think of for this game and the execution is wonderfully done. I'm glad I had faith in Naughty Dog, they've never let me down.

I can absolutely see why some people won't like this game or be unsatisfied with aspects of it but I can't understand how anyone can call it awful storytelling or how so many people wrote it off before even playing it just from the spoilers.

    Yes yes yes!

I'm not sure my feelings for a video game character have ever changed like they did with Abby. I went from hating her and looking forward to killing her, to being as hesitant to fight her at the end as I was to fight Ellie as her. Maybe the only two times in a video game I've really wanted to not kill the enemy. I feel like they both went through the same arc of vengeance to realization that it's not worth all the death and hate that comes from it. Both of them let the other go. It's a beautiful ending and I'm sad that there's a lot of people out there that still wanted to kill Abby at the end.

I honestly wanted all of them to die because I thought the ending was pretty disappointing

I guess my only counterpoint would be I was never at the point of hating Abby and looking forward to killing her. I had made the assumption that they were fireflies because who else would know Joel's name and want him dead. And while I empathized with Joel's decision at the end of the first game, it was super fucked up and I would completely understand why they would want him dead. I understand what the game was trying to make me feel in regards to Abby but it ends up not working for me from that perspective. But I also understand why Ellie would want Abby dead.

yeah I don't think the game intended to make everyone feel that way, or needed to. I was just surprised at how my opinion changed even with how much I loved Joel and wanted Ellie to get her revenge. They just really did a good job showing how fruitless and poisonous revenge is.

I need to stay off Youtube til I finish it. (I'm 21 hours in - almost there) Literally any gaming video I click on and even positive TLOUS2 videos will recommend me an angry thumbnail of some immature gamer rant

For a year after TLJ came out there was always a youtube video in my recommended section that was called Why The Last Jedi is a CINEMATIC FAILURE.

And now theres a video in my recs called Why The Last of Us Part II is a STORYTELLING FAILURE.

    smh

So like, do any of these youtubers that supposedly care about storytelling provide any idea of how to fix the story? It goes without saying I am sure there are some very insightful and measured takes on what they would have done instead

I mean sometimes people actually do those kinds of videos but they don't get promoted a lot because they are like 2 hours or more.

I remember seeing a series from this guy about The Last Jedi and it was like 8 hours of content doing a full analysis and multiple alternatives or theories and how they could and couldn't be supported.

Some people are just hardcore like that, but I couldn't watch the whole thing. I just can't do it.
