I can’t wait

 

Yeah, they’ve really changed. I get bands do, but as a fan you want recognizable qualities from bands on albums, even as they grow and evolve.

 

I should note that I do like this song. Feels Champ-ish meets Forcefield upon first listen.

Album Premiere: Tokyo Police Club, 'TPC'

Not their best, but not bad either

 

Ugh, this is even worse than I expected. Admittedly, I stopped at track ten (I’ll listen to the rest later), but somehow, the singles are the best tracks on here. The fuzzy production remind me of when I use film grain effects to try to make a lame photo more interesting.

 

I remember them playing some new songs when I saw them in December and they were really boring live. The show they put on when they were touring for Forcefield was awesome.

 

In the minority. Album is solid

 

Nervous to listen because Champ is one of my favorite albums, Forcefield was a lot of fun, but I haven't really loved anything since then.

“Can’t Stay Here” is the first track I like so far

 

So...it's not the worst thing I've ever heard, but I am wondering how this album even happened. It's devoid of all personality. It's hard to believe these mostly cringe inducing lyrics are even from the same band.

 

I can understand musicians that want to flex their creativity and try new things, but I mean, where's the creative part of this? This is what I picture in my head:

TPC: "Yeah, so we really want to make a more simplified album, streamlined with more straightforward lyrics."

Producer: "Okay, that's not a bad idea. Simple can work."

TPC: "Awesome because we've got this song about being like, just a simple dude and love and such."

Producer: "Oh...o-okay...what's it called?"

TPC: "Simple dude."

ahahaha yep. this album is almost totally devoid of good ideas. it's sloppy, amateur, and listless. it sounds like a band who's found themselves very, very lost. the very tired "woooo!' at the beginning of outtatime literally says it all.

 

Idk i know they can write better songs...but I’m enjoying it!

 

Exactly how I feel

 

I actually laugh at that one because it’s like the band just learned the word “fuck”

 

They used “fuck” on the Champ song Not Sick. I like Simple Dude. I need to listen to this album. Elephant Shellnis my favourite record by them, followed closely by Champ.

 

This record is for sure boring. I couldn't even finish it.

 

Ready to Win is probably the most energetic track on here but it reallllly doesn’t work for me at all.

But I really love this demo for HDYKYFAR.
