Is mail in voting an option in Georgia or did they just say fuck it and hold a totally regular election?

Personally, I’m disgusted by celebrities who have never given a shit about issues like this suddenly playing activist and posting pictures of themselves at protests on Instagram.

Just looked him up...oh my god he has got to be the most hated driver by NASCAR fans, right? Black dude calling for a ban on the confederate flag?

Esp grating with someone like Taylor Swift where it’s like do you really think any supposed backlash to being even slightly “political” would be so severe as to ruin your career? You will still continue to be one of the most successful musicians ever. You may just be platinum instead of double platinum. Cry about it

  13. She talks about this specifically in her documentary about growing up in the south and what happened to the Dixie Chicks and country radio in the 2000s having a huge impact on her at the time, and then why she was wrong to think that way. So, yeah, I’m glad one of the biggest platforms in the world is talking even a little about this and educating her fans and mobilizing them even a little.

Take the little wins people. In 2002 speaking up even a tad against Bush or the war caused *massive* backlash and now we have some of the biggest celebrities in the world talking about systematic racism. This is a good thing.

If Swift specifically has started growing more than good. I was just using her as an example of a celeb who does not actually have much to lose by co-signing onto something that is relatively mainstream. What people like Kaepernick or the Dixie Chicks did actually *was* quite unpopular when they did them.

You also have to consider that she was signed to contract when she was a child to people that forced her to maintain an image and lack of a message for a decade. For awhile, she wasn't even allowed to voice an opinion and I think it's clear since then that she's learning about what that means and what it means to listen.

It’s fine to feel good about public opinion swaying but giving these celebrities praise for doing so little and watching them put their name on a movement after the hard work was being done for decades always bothered me but has become a real pet peeve now that I work in the activist community and see how little credit the real fighters get on a daily basis.

I mean, a lot of things are already open and outdoor dining starts next week and the salons and barbershops the week after. I don't know why the stay at home order was even still in place, not like it was being followed or enforced lol

We also just lifted gathering restrictions to 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors. That part seems dumb but whatever, people are just getting more angry by the day.

  20. I don't see how that tweet puts "her name on a movement" ... if she says nothing, backlash, says something, backlash ...

I never said she should get backlash for saying something. It’s all well and good but it’s just not much and not where the attention should be.

It is funny to see Scooter Braun speaking out against racism, considering how powerful he's become because of managing almost exclusively white people appropriating black culture.
