Went to a birthday party for one of my wife's old college roommates today. It's a pretty conservative friend group and somehow the protests got brought up. The friend's husband started saying how he thought the protests were good for George Floyd but not for BLM, because he doesn't agree with the premise of the movement in the first place. He then decried the riots, and at one point used the hard 'r' word. He's apparently the youth pastor at their church.

They tell you to choose your battles, but sitting there listening to it and not saying anything was difficult as hell. Seeing such ignorance close up truly is frustrating.

 

But there’s also a difference between that kind of “ideological purity” defeatism and recognizing that Romney marching is only, at best, a symbolic victory. I’ll believe he’s on our side when he actually uses his power for good in a meaningful way. To that end, I think calling it a “Win“ is really jumping the gun lol

Don’t cops and firefighters in America already kinda antagonize each other? This really should not be a tough sell here

 

This is like pointing to Stalin’s Soviet Union when someone advocates for socialism. (And of course there were police in the time of those lynch mobs anyway). I’m not going to engage in your straw man. Honestly you would be the one reading if you were really interested in an answer to your questions. I’ve seen more literature and articles and webinars and advocacy meetings being shared on alternatives to policing than I ever have before.

That's basically been Biden's campaign thus far, right? Most people can't name anything specific about Biden's platform. They see him as a conduit for getting Trump out.
