Of All Things is absolutely on par with their other albums. Maybe it didn't work in "separating themselves from the pop punk/emo/whatever" scene, but to say that it's not an interesting and effective collection of songwriting experiments just because it didn't do that is a little reductive. It didn't achieve this broader goal they wanted to achieve, and maybe they don't like how reactionary those songs were, but at the end of the day, they're good songs on their own terms. From the intentionally lofi sounding Drainage to the studio pop of See How Tame I Can Be to the call back quality of their pre self titled material in I'm Always Tired, this band tried their hand at a lot in a short amount of time and were largely successful. I get not liking it and it not being your thing, but I don't think that makes these songs bad by any means. And to me, NHA pursued a lot of the ideas that were introduced on Of All Things, just melded together with the spirit and more straightforward energy of that Self Titled record, so I think Of All Things should get more credit.

 

Nicely said. The one-two punch of tracks 1 & 2 on Of All Things gets me hyped every time

 

guess I should listen to self titled at some point. Gotta catch 'em all! Err, listen... to them all

 

I can't back self-titled enough. Just a super fun record.

 

S/T is the classic

 

I think the most recent one is leagues above st

 

P sure Casey has already trashed me for this but Heated Swimming Pool and In the Army Now both suck to me and that puts S/T just a bit ahead.

 

Heart Tattoo is the worst song on that record though

There aren't bad songs on Never Hungover Again lol. There aren't bad songs on any of their albums. There's literally no time for that to happen.

 

There isn't a bad track on never hung over again. Heart tattoo is just a funny song to me, idk I like the lead guitars in it
