Yeah, I listen to the intro every time I put the album on intending to listen to it as an album.

Also listen to the robot song.

agreed. “People” is by far my least favorite song in their whole discog. Wish it woulda just been a one off single.

I think I finally enjoy (tolerate?) Paris now. Crazy ass world we living in.

I'm starting to feel like my love of '60s and '70s stuff has inoculated me to records that jump around in some ways but feel cohesive because of the artistic stamp of the band. You really liking this is now reinforcing that suspicion.

I have the same problems with Paris as I do Change of Heart. They feel like hollowed out versions of Every Breath You Take by The Police with an element of whismicalness that I dislike haha

See I still think I find change of heart annoying...but Paris is pleasant in the right frame of mind. I think the more laidback stuff on this new record has made me appreciate it more. It doesn’t work for me on the other one.

Am I an idiot for not liking this?

Weirdly, their "talking over pretty music" excursions on the last two albums really make me think of The Point.

More albums should make me think about The Point.

Paris could possibly be my favorite song by the band

Sorry for the double quote, catching up on the thread.

I feel like you'll love that album. "Vapor Trails" makes me get a little misty every time I hear it. Not even lyrically or anything. Just something about the music on that one really hits me.

    OH

This is the one time it's actually on-topic for me to mention this particular hobby-horse of mine:

Christopher Cross is a 5-star record and maybe the definitive soft-rock record. Y'all should listen to it.

Low key everyone here kind of hates you and thinks your an idiot. But you are good. Just play it ten more times and you’ll change your mind.

I feel like this album will occupy the same space in my life that Father of the Bride did last year

    Not at all.

This is exactly how I feel about the new Fiona Apple album.

That album is 100% where Billy Joel got some of his 80s influence.
