Been reading through this thread after my first listen and I think people not liking Shiny Collarbone is the take I don't understand the most. That shit goes.

Other than the singles, I think Nothing Revealed and Tonight and I Think There's Something... are my faves, but the entire back half is insane. Going to be real interesting seeing people who normally review poppy albums try to review this.

Nothing Revealed is really growing on me but im still not a big fan of the middle part with the deep voice lol.

Pitchfork is literally going to give this thing an 8.5 or a 5 and I have no idea which it's going to be. I wonder who's reviewing it.

Reckon it’ll be in the 6-7 range. Praise for the experimentation, criticism of its length.

It legitimately just depends on the reviewer. Like, you either get it or you don't. The randomness of it all, the disjointedness - it's part of it's charm and I think it works on every level and shows just how well they've gotten at their craft. Where somebody else could disagree and be like "what the fuck is all this?" To say it'll be polarizing is an understatement.

It's going to be polarizing even to the fans. Someone who signed up because of Chocolate or Sex might not be down with Roadkill or The Birthday Party hahaha

like i was sort of expecting this record to feel rushed (i was lowering my expectations just in case) and disjointed. it's only really the latter, it sounds so complete, every idea works

I don't think Too Shy is out of place at all. Feels like a welcome pay off tbf.

I can always be better, so I'll always try. Supporter

Yep. There's enough "sketch" type songs here that you need that pure blast of pop to give it structure again.

I have to agree - I liked Too Shy way more in context than when it was released as a single. It feels refreshing.

    100%.

I love it, personally. It definitely feels disjointed but I like/love pretty much every song. As a fan of the band it’s just a treat to have so many songs that tap into every style they’ve ever attempted, as well as a few songs that don’t sound like anything they’ve ever done. I think its broadness is going to be something some reviewers will struggle to get past though, which is kind of understandable but also frustrating as a fan haha

Get somewhere change my mind and
Get somewhere but don't find it
    I don't find what I'm looking for

This record's doing it for me. They did it again.

  22. I'll buy the CD to support them, but there's little to no chance I will ever listen to this album in full in one sitting again. So the CD will probably remain in its shrink-wrapping like the last 2 albums that are on my shelf, haha.

Pretty good on my first listen. Doesn't hold a candle to how I felt/feel about the last one, but it seems like a lot will grow on me. Me & You is still my favorite track on this. I'm surprised that not a ton of people are talking about Bagsy/Don't Worry, they rule. Gonna run it back now and skip the things I've heard a ton.
