Reading up on Event Horizon I can understand why it was critically panned. You can very much tell that it had a good chunk cut out of it. It feels like it is missing the whole middle. Also the imagery could have been so fucking cool i they left it. Its a shame the studio got cold feet and lost all of the footage.

 

Was that a first time watch? It's one of my all-time favs - just brutal and terrifying.

Revenge was very simple in story, but beautifully shot and well acted. I made the rookie mistake of trying to eat while watching it though haha.

 

Revenge is so good. I enjoy rewatching it. The early parts are hard to watch (which is how the director intended it I’m sure) but it’s just so satisfying by the end.

Speaking of rewatches, I watched House of the Devil again. I don’t know why but I just find that movie so easy to watch. That dance scene is always fun to see too.

 

Watched Murder Party tonight and it was awesome.

 

Watched the first Jeepers Creepers film yesterday for the first time in over a decade. I saw it in the theater and thought it was scary...it’s still a scary little flick

 

I showed my wife it a year ago after also not having seen it since my youth. It holds up. The director though is still a huge pos, and I pointed it out to her.

 

Bought a few horror flicks lately

Eraserhead (Criterion BD)
The People Under The Stairs (SF BD)

 

David Gordon Green (as @Blumhouse) Jamie Lee, and others are currently live tweeting while watching Halloween 2018 and this jumped out at me. Is it possible they’re gonna share a teaser or trailer?

I forget the name of the documentary but I saw it on Netflix years ago analyzing teen movies from the 70s to 2000s and there’s a part about Jeepers Creepers and how it’s a metaphor for a teen struggling to come out of the closet. That was something I did not pick up when I first saw Jeepers Creepers

 

Fantasy Island was so dumb lol but low-key fun dumb. I can't recommend it, but there are worse ways to spend a Saturday than watching poorly written teen horror.

 

Yeah there’s definitely homosexual innuendos sprinkled in the film, especially the way The Creeper acts towards Darry throughout.

I'm rewatching Strangers Prey At Night and it's so fun. I'll never get why people hated this

 

I also really liked this. I saw it in an empty theater back when I had movie pass and was really confused by all the hate

The Strangers to me is still the gold standard for home invasion movies. Nothing else is the sub genre does it better imo. Prey at Night was a fun sequel, I enjoyed it a lot. To each their own!

 

I think I've said this before, but I enjoy The Strangers every time I watch it, I just think it's largely forgettable aside from that ending, which people love

 

I just love the film because it has no gimmicks. It’s just straight home invasion, no little details used to try to set it apart, like making the protagonist blind or pregnant or a bunch of thieves in over their head. I know there are others that came before it and didn’t use anything gimmicky, but I feel like they just didn’t have it perfected. Bold statement that probably deserves to get criticized, but The Strangers is for the HI genre what Halloween is for the slasher genre.

Which I don’t mean as a knock to any of the other films, I enjoyed them all (Hush a little less so haha). Home Invasion is probably my favorite sub genre.

 

I like the original and thought prey at night was pretty bad
