This was nowhere near as bad as the reviews indicate but still not very good

Are the cuts that different? But we will never see the director's cut, but if we do, it will be released down the line as a special edition or something (like what they did with Watchmen)?

    I honestly have no idea.

The Max Landis dig was my favorite.
There is a dark cut and a whimsical cut, according to the rumors. They basically spliced two versions of the film.

Kinda loved it tbh. Kept thinking I should hate it but I was having a great time. The Batman scenes made me real happy. I did have a terrible theater moment where I laughed really hard after Diablo told his story and someone asks what happened to the kids and Harley matter of factly says "they die." Only person in the theater that laughed and the music made me think they were definitely not going for laughs there.

For as sloppy as this was, I thought Will Smith was really good and would love to see the story of him as a a villain and his relationship with his daughter fleshed out more in a solo Batman movie directed by Afflek.

The editing and pacing are my two biggest gripes with this movie. Honestly, the editing ends so many scenes with a thud, it's baffling after awhile. Villains tend to be lame, and this was no different, but I suppose I look past it because we'll continue to see it more often than not.

Joker's role was rather pointless, and it felt like Leto was impersonating Johnny Depp portraying the Joker. My audience didn't respond to Harley's one-liners at all. Croc got the biggest laugh. Yeah, I know. Deadshot and Waller were my favorites, no contest. Overall, this was simply an alright movie that felt like two completely different films.

Perhaps. I certainly think the rate at which they're being created will subside. Either way, as someone that is a fan of comics, this franchise era has not served them well. Targetted dates of release trump everything and leave little room for the construction of quality material. The opposite dynamic is what made the first two installments of Nolan's Batman films appealing. It wasn't the dark aesthetic that made them superior, it was the meticulousness with which an amoral Gotham was created and subsequently, created deeply flawed/damaged people.

They play a bit of that story out in the comics. I can't recall if it was in Secret Six or Suicide Squad though. They make him seem like a pretty respectable guy who just happens to make a living shooting people in the face.

It hasn't helped comics either. Writers and artists are leaving books because they are being forced to meet impossible deadlines. It's led to newer writers coming in and putting out some shit books.

When you compare the two, it's crazy how much of a mess the DC adaptations have been. But I think that many of Marvels films were severely lacking quality wise. They just score huge because of the family appeal.

But I think that Marvel really surprised a lot of people with Deadpool. SS would have been the perfect opportunity to do the same for the DCU. Joker in a R rated film with no restraint could have been an incredible thing.

I'm probably gonna stop reading this thread before you guys ruin this movie that I enjoyed for me but I'd just like to say that I really don't think we saw enough of Leto at all to fairly judge his worthiness of the role. This almost seemed like more of a preview of how he'll be in his inevitable role in the solo Batman movie, which I'm really looking forward to

It's a shame because I certainly enjoy the DC universe more than I do Marvel's, but they are unabashedly getting destroyed in the cinematic universe.

At this point I'd rather just have feature length stuff from their animated universe, which is what they seem to excel at most. (though some of the recent animated films have been pretty disappointing to say the least, the Killing Joke adaptation looks baaaad)

I don't know why DC can't just stick to the source material (in reference to The Killing Joke). They have a goldmine of materials begging to be properly adapted.

    Be my alibi?

The entire premise of the squad was a team of metahumans to combat other metahumans. Not a rescue team which any special force team could of handled. "How do we stop superman" was the reasoning given.

It probably won't be until I buy it on Blu-Ray but I'll try to remember then haha!

Honestly really enjoyed this movie. Sure it definitely had its problems, but overall it was a fun movie. Deadshot and Harley stole the movie and both actors portrayed them really well.

I was worried Harley was going to be really annoying but she turned out to be my favorite part of the movie.

Also made me want origin stories for more villains. Especially the DC ones since I believe DC villains are so much more interesting than Marvel's.

Looks like it needs to reach $750 million to make a profit. These sorts of reports are largely unsubstantiated so take it with a grain of salt.

With all of the Hot Topic merch, it will turn a profit in some regard. It may not be at the box office, but it is going to have WB in the black.

For real, that "Daddy's Little Monster" shirt is sure to be a hit among edgy high school girls.

  24. For sure, Joker and Harley merch will be a cash cow for the rest of the summer and should return again around Halloween.

Haha as a fan of the show that's about all you get then they disappear and don't show up again for awhile

I'd say college age would be pretty big too
