Even just for a one day one-off thing like they somewhat did last year. Warped was always the highlight of my summer. I miss it

Same here. I would love to be able to go again. I never missed a year from 2004-2018, and it was a huge part of growing up.

Yup. Shall I remind everyone that Lyman let musicians such as Front Porch Step and Ronnie Radke play on the tour AFTER things came out about them. Or maybe when he said in an interview that harassment is just part of the culture but it didn’t happen on his tour (Warped Tour’s Founder Says Sexual Harassment Is ’Part Of The Culture’) (which is a lie). It’s so disgusting that he would just say it’s part of the culture rather than say it’s a problem that needs to be addressed. I don’t get why people want Warped back, it’s just going to bring back the same culture and enable some of those same people and new people to be abusers and still have a platform.

Also, let’s not forget that (I’m putting this as a new comment because it isn’t about harassment problems) Lyman publicly criticized bands like Modern Baseball and La Dispute and Touché Amore for not wanting to be on his dumb tour and said they were being elitist and claimed not being on the tour would hurt their careers. It seemed so tacky to randomly call out bands who have been pretty successful out like that.

I enjoyed seeing many of the bands I loved all at the same place in one day. I discovered many new bands I grew to love as well. Hanging out with friends every year there was also a big highlight.

Warped Tour is an example of not throwing out the baby with the bathwater in my opinion.

I agree. Also he did his best every year to stop the harassment and such. People just get too involved in to it. You vote for it by buying a ticket.

Also Ronnie Radke/Falling in Reverse and With Confidence played in 2018. These are just three examples.

I don’t know what “you vote for it by buying a ticket” means, because the people calling out Lyman and the tour are, I’m pretty positive, not the ones buying tickets.

Then they have nothing to worry about. Yeah, the FPS was a huge misstep. I didn't know about With Confidence or anything on that one. His handling hasn't been perfect, but at least this scene had something going for it.

Just because people aren’t attending doesn’t mean they can’t call out and criticize the culture of the tour and who is brought on the tour. Just because we aren’t going doesn’t mean we can’t advocate for a safer scene and for abusers, violent men, singers singing gross/misogynistic lyrics, etc. to not be on the tour and given a platform.

Lmao imagine thinking Lyman “did his best”. The fucker didn’t do a god damn thing and was toxic to the scene and enabled so many shitty dudes by giving them a platform.

I can agree with this. Yes, the culture does need to change, and though not flawless I feel like he did advocate for it at times. A lot of my opinion though comes from the talk I had with him. I was a major critic of his and was invited for a conversation.

All these people are right about Lyman. I'll still attend Warped if it comes back, but no one has been fully incorrect here.

To be fair, there's been mixed opinions on Warped here for a few years now and I do get the criticisms.

I've met far too many great people and discovered too many great bands during my 14 years of Warped Tour to ever fully turn my back on it. But I think that the more recent generations of Pop Punk, Punk Rock, Emo, Post-Hardcore, Metalcore, etc. fans stand for different things than the 00s and early-mid 10s era of the scene did. Warped means less to many of them and stands for something different than it did to the people who attended 15 years ago and that's okay. The times change. Scenes change. It happens.

I find it odd you’re phrasing it like that’s a bad thing. Aside from the fact that not everyone on here likes Warped Tour bands/people on here like way more genres than the Warped Tour scene, people have been calling out Warped’s problems for at the very least the past few years. So it’s really not that surprising.
