I wish Hillary would randomly whisper "prostitute" during her speeches like that Shone song. Then I'd vote for her.

The thing that I never understood with Shone was that everyone was saying his voice is so weird and the lyrics are so horrible they couldn't handle it. And it's like, well yeah he's playing a psychopathic schizophrenic killer it's definitely going to be a little weird. And I especially never understood it because I feel like people listen to wayyyyyy weirder, more "out there" shit on here (or AP rather)than that record haha.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that people (myself included) on this website will be pretty open minded when it comes to listening to music that is different than the norm, but for some reason that didn't follow through on that record. Maybe I'm wrong though

 

I think a lot of people thought it was viral marketing for LP5, so that may contribute to the hatred.

 

I don't think it's so much that it's a "weird" album... its just a bad album lol. Like, there are lots of good albums that are weird. Shone isn't one of them for me

 

I wasn't paying any attention to the music scene at that time. My hatred is pure and separated from the bitterness of broken expectations.

 

Never listened to Shone, but was around on AP for that viral campaign. The overall repulsive majority reaction was apparently strong enough to ward me away for years.

 

With Shone, all but like two of the songs feel like filler. And those two songs aren't that good. I just expected more from such a talented group.

The whole lyrical concept seems like the band just spent an afternoon watching Criminal Minds reruns on Ion and decided to make an album out of it.

Criminal Minds is also my favorite TV show, which probably explains why I was okay with the Shone album...though idk I thought a lot of it was boring, only a couple songs I ever went back to. I do think the buildup for people thinking the hype was leading to something from Brand New contributes to how hated it is ahah.

 

Wasn't fun, idk the song writing is actually okay but the vocal performance is so forced it Zaps the fun out of it

Heat Thing could have greatly been improved if Hotch, Morgan, Reid, and the rest of the BAU were involved. They'd have caught the guy three tracks in.

 

So random thought but, I reckon the last song BN will ever play is Soco, and that Jesse will end it on 'we're gonna stay 18 forever....'

 

That's been the long-running joke since they announced.
