Unless you're looking to do any gaming or high level photoshop stuff, the Magic Mouse is almost certainly the best mouse for most people. As far as the keyboard is concerned, take your pick. Anything will work. Just depends on what all you want.

really? I was waiting for them to upgrade it the same as the old 15" and was fairly convinced I was going to get this as soon as it was announced. No 14" display, the base model has the older 8th gen processor (2-3 years old at this point) and slower ram speeds than the MBA. It'll be $1800 just to get the current 10th gen processor. If I absolutely needed a laptop right now I'd go with the MBA instead. Hopefully October brings the 14" miniLED screen and better/current gen specs and i'll hop on it.

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

I posted that before realizing the base model doesn’t include the new processor haha. Will continue waiting for the right one.

I’ve ran Windows OS my entire life. Is it smart to move to Mac?

    Details:

I work from home now. Remote in. Download a lot of torrents and stream via Plex

Have a dual monitor setup as well

I have both a MacBook Pro and a Windows laptop, and definitely prefer macOS. Unless you're dedicated to gaming or something super proprietary to Windows, I think the Mac is totally superior. Obviously with Apple products you're paying a premium, and if that's affordable to you then its fine.
I kind of like the way Windows lets you slot two Windows next to each other, and even on Mac there's an app that lets you do that, it doesn't work as well as Windows' baked-in version of it. Otherwise I cannot think of an ease-of-use/OS thing that I like more.

  6. Thinking about getting my girlfriend the 13" MacBook Pro soon, not too soon :crylaugh:. Thinking of doing the base model with four ports, but upgrading the storage to 1TB. She's mainly going to be using this for school and photo editing, should I also upgrade the ram or should she be fine with 16 GB? I was wondering if the Air would be enough for her but I think she has her heart set on the Pro.

I've found Mac OS to be really, really good with memory management, so my gut feeling is that 16GB is fine. That being said, if you plan on using it for 5 years or more, RAM is the best thing to spend extra money on.

Is there a consensus on the best matte screen protector for the iPad Pro?

Woah only just finding out about the $700 Mac pro wheels. What the heck is Apple smoking? Lol

  10. Any video editor that's ever worked on location will know why they'd want wheels. The MacPro ain't for PaulLovesTaco.

For sure but not for freaking $700 lol

  12. If you're buying a 20k computer, you're not thinking about $700.

That's wild that just by virtue of living in a state with no sales tax, I would save $2k ordering one of those haha

my iPad pro very rarely leaves it's folio, let alone rarely even leaves my couch/bed lol so i don't keep a screen protector on it, but, my wife has been using the Zagg tempered glass phone screen protectors on her iPhones and loves them. They have ones for the 11 and 12.9" iPad pro.

Shop ZAGG.com for mobile accessories from our industry-leading brands—mophie, InvisibleShield, ZAGG, BRAVEN, IFROGZ, Gear4 and more.

the new Mac Pro is definitely badass, but it's definitely a super-premium for professionals. I'm sure the wheels are nice but do they cost anywhere near $700 to produce? Probably not.

Yeah that's my problem with it. Is it a big deal to someone who has the ability to drop $20k? Probably not. Is it still a complete rip-off regardless based on the cost of materials? Absolutely

If I could just forget it

The materials themselves make up such a small part of what goes into building the Mac Pro. You are paying for the hardware and software engineering, the design, the testing and QA, packaging, etc that goes into transforming those materials into a useful tool. That’s where the real value is.

The wheels though? Yeah that’s crazy.

Paperlike is def the big name, but I didn’t think the price premium would be worth it so I got this: ELECOM Paper-Feel Screen Protector Compatible with iPad Pro 11 inch (2018,2020) / Drawing, Anti Glare, Scratch Resistant/Bond Type, TB-A18MFLAPL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KZHVTD6/?tag=absolutepunk-20
Looks like it’s sold out now but it was like $18 and looks much much better on the screen than I thought it would. Highly recommend if you can find elecom.
