Guided By Voices, Superchunk, and Dinosaur Jr. are some of my favorite bands. They also all returned and released some of their best stuff.

I'm surprised old Spoon hasn't been brought up. Series of sneaks is great.

their masterpiece came out in the 80s! Sorry if I'm being pedantic, American Music was 90s so I guess they count!

Nada Surf is a band I haven't seen mentioned yet. They're great

Most of these artists were at their peak and releasing albums in the 90s. I just don't see why it matters if a band released their first record in say 89 if we all know them from like 94. Just seems weird and excessive to me but it's no biggie

thinking about it and it really doesn't , REM would be an 80s and a 90s band I guess, sorry if I was being a dick

Speaking of REM, Murmur is so tight. They're really an interesting band, they straddled so many stylistic lines simultaneously and did so with effortless seeming minimalism

You can certainly hear lots of Superchunk in The Get Up Kids and Hot Rod Circuit, and bands of the like. That influence is very apparent

So, admittedly, this is the first Superchunk song I've ever really listened to (aside from Detroit Has a Skyline) and wow. That opening lead riff is everything I want in a guitar part.

Their first album is also their weakest. Give Dig Me Out a listen and you will fall in love with them.

Oh man. Superchunk is one of the best around. Foolish, which has Driveway To Driveway, is a go to album for me.

I am absolutely here for indie rock - emo populism

will do, I usually go sequentially which is why I started with the first album, but I know Dig Me Out is like the fan favorite.

Also RE: Superchunk, I have I Hate Music, Majesty Shredding, and Here's Where the Strings come in downloaded, these good starter ones?

Let's not forget the point of this thread, which is to discuss how the D Plan was the best of all indie rock bands.
