I'm driving 5 hours to that glen falls show on the 14th. I couldn't imagine how cool it would be to be able to listen to a new brand new record for 5 straight hours on the way there.

 

I don't even trust my own statement, haha. I've said for years, I think they'll just drop it out of the blue one night as a surprise album. I think that's still more likely, but if it will be traditional, those are the dates that'd make sense.

 

Now THAT'S a commitment. Well done.

I see the likelihood of an October release very slim. November-December much more likely if it hasn't been announced yet.

They're gonna release it December 31st at 11:59pm just to fuck with us all.

Lol sorry I couldn't resist. At this point I have no fucking clue when and what is coming out. Obviously most likely an lp but if they aren't happy with the quality of the material it could be an ep. It would still be called an album but it could only be 8 or 9 tracks KOL style which would be better than nothing I guess. But yeah I'm curious to know how many ''new'' tracks we will be getting.

 

I'd say we get to hear one or two new songs on the fall tour with the album coming out after with the next tour promoting the album

After sitting in the dark, drinking a couple of beers and listening to TDAG in full, I can safely say I think Handcuffs is a perfect finisher in my opinion. I know a lot of people here have issues with it, but I think after the intensity of the whole album, to end it with such a somber song that builds and then just slowly exhales at the end is just such a brilliant contrast. Lyrically? I can see why folks don't like it. I do though. To me the lyrics on paper don't look all that, but I just appreciate them in the context of the song. I'd fucking kill to see them play that live, especially with the little alternate ending Jesse sings.
Literally the only song on TDAG I'm not HUGE on is Archers, and I don't know why. I really like it, but it's easily my least favourite on the album, bar that awesome feedback at the end. Some might say it's my 'Handcuffs' of TDAG.

 

Aside from the "drowning babies" line, I never understood the hate for this song. I think its quite beautiful, especially that bridge.

 

Absolutely. One thing that album does so well is the loud-quiet dynamics, and it just catches me off-guard every time when Handcuffs comes on. Forces me to sit down and just soak it in. Fantastic song.
