You Belong With Me and Don't being the same song is blowing my mind sis

 

Jeff Buckley was an amazing talent, and his high marks are damn near perfection; however, I really don't get down with Grace as an album. It's fine, I just don't think he made his masterpiece which is a shame

 

for me I think it's mainly how angelic his voice is more so than his actual work

 

I mean yeah absolutely his voice is pretty perfect, I just wish he made more songs I enjoy

 

It rips my heart out everytime I listen to Jeff Buckley or Elliot Smith.

 

Grace is a near perfect album

 

On board for Elliott Smith. I wish Buckley took more influence from Van and Nick Drake

 

The last two songs on Grace hold it back from being a masterpiece

 

Searching to see if they had a thread. Damn I want them back... with a non scuzzy lead vocalist.

 

Grace, while it has some absolutely jawdropping moments and some of my favorite songs ever, is kind of a mess overall

Don't think I ever need to listen to lilac wine or Corpus Christi carol again. And the last minute or so of so real is pretty fucking grating. Doesn't detract from last goodbye, lover you shoulda come over, or forget her

 

So Real has such a great riff that devolves into bleh

 

Forget Her not being on the album proper is probably its biggest blunder

 

Lilac Wine might be the best song on the album Leonard Cohen didn't write. The way he turns the spirit of Nina inside out is a thing of beauty

Speaking of which I don't love the Leonard Cohen version of Hallelujah it's too ornate for me, also not sure I'd say there are too many Hallelujah covers as much as I'd say there are too few First We Take Manhattan covers

 

When I saw Rufus wainwright he sang hallelujah and forgot the words and mumbled and laughed through the part it was pretty cute. /my one hallelujah story

Try his live version from the recent record. Live in London? Something like that. Much less stiffly 80s largeness.

 

Rise Against's Appeal to Reason is a stellar record, not as good as the stuff that came before it, but deserves more love.

 

I get Rise Against and Against Me mixed up all the time. I always have to google to see which one has the singer with the different colored eyes and which one has Laura.

 

Some of the opinions about Jeff Buckley in this thread are an abomination.
