"Restless Heart Syndrome" and the title track were my early favorites. Might still be.

    Nooo, that one is great.

That's the only downright bad song on Tre. Not the worst in the trilogy, though.

No, it's "Nightlife." There are other bad songs, but nothing even comes close to that level of horror.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Yeah, Nightlife is easily the worst song they've ever done.

21st Century Breakdown is great, there's some filler on there, but that album got a lot of unnecessary hate.

Oh Love is awesome haha one of my favorites from the trilogy

You're right, it's not mediocre because it's terrible. Also, Static Age and American Eulogy are pretty good, but act 3 ie definitely the weakest.

I don't hate that one as much because I feel like it's supposed to be bad. Other songs like Fuck Time are clearly trying to be good rock songs, so they fail more at their intended goal imo.

I mean, I don't really care what their intention was behind it. They still put it on an album, so they clearly had some level of belief that it was worthy.

That's fair, I still find it more interesting and listenable than a lot of the other Dos songs, even though I do agree that it's terrible.

I definitely think there's a story they're telling on 21CB. It's clearly about two kids named Christian and Gloria, and how the modern world basically kills them both, figuratively and literally. The story isn't as vivid as it was in AI, but there is clearly a narrative - there's just a LOT to digest.

Were you the one who did some seriously long blogs back in the day trying to figure out the story?

Yessir - it was part of a critical analysis project I was working on in a college course. We had to pick a film/TV/music project to breakdown and analyze, so I picked 21CB.

That's awesome. I remember reading those. I agree that there is definitely a story here, though it's easier to follow in some spots (the first act) than in others (the third).

I actually like Nightlife :( But I realize I'm definitely in the minority there.

I think the only songs that I truly love from the trilogy are Kill The DJ, Brutal Love, X-Kid, and Walk Away.

To be fair radio people (the people that have heard the song) compared Bored to Death to Adam's Song so take it with a grain of salt
