Even with ratings on SmackDown being down, I have a feeling the replay of Mania on ESPN is going to bring in some good numbers. People are checking in on ESPN specifically for what random sporting events they have going on just because they're desperate to see any sort of event. And I think we underestimate how many lapsed fans check out Mania each year just because it's the biggest event of the wrestling year. A lot of people who aren't current fans are likely to just leave it on because it's the only thing going combined with that lapsed fan interest

 

ESPN should be airing a 2 hour preshow if both companies really want numbers.

so as a part of my podcast, Houston Wrestling Radio, i came up with a new version of our Mania Madness game. make a 10 match wrestlemania card using matches that happened from the past 35 manias. with a few disclaimers: a minimum of one women's match, one tag team match, and wrestlers can only appear once on your card. here's my list, in no particular order:

savage/dibiase: wwe title - 4
rusev/cena: us title - 31
dudleyz/hardys/e&c: tlc 2 tag titles - 17
stratus/james: wwe womens title - 22
charlotte/asuka: sd womens title - 34
hart/austin: submission match - 14
rock/hogan - 18
guerrero/mysterio - 21
lesnar/taker - 30
michaels/jericho - 19

 

Roman confirmed on Instagram today that he pulled out of WrestleMania. Not that we didn't know already, but good to hear it from him.

 

So awesome haha

 

Too bad no animal crossing characters are gonna actually wrestle there

I would love to see AEW also create a midcard title for the women

 

Do they have enough of a division for a secondary title?

 

right now? probably not. it doesn't have to be something done within the next year even. just would love to see it

Its actually what WWE needed instead of the tag titles. Because we could be having all these tag teams doing singles matches for a belt instead of them not having enough teams to want to consistently run title storylines.

Exactly the sort of thing for Dana Brooke or Liv Morgan or Mandy Rose to use their mini-pushes to get to.

 

I'm ashamed to admit I only just realized that AEW Dynamite is called Dynamite because it airs on TNT

It was the name of Tony Khans figure fed show as a child. I think the fact that it’s on TNT just worked out really well
