I love this show, but in no world will I ever think it's the better show than BB

 

I feel bad for Rich and I think Kim was way out of line.

The show does a great job at making you hate him just because Saul, a criminal, doesn't like him. He is a corporate lawyer which is shitty, but he's treated the characters in this show with respect and gave Kim an out without even threatening her job. I think after how she reacted in the office, were going to see that somehow lead to her being disbarred

 

It already really is better than BB honestly, only thing that holds me back from saying it for sure is that it's not done yet and could still theoretically fumble the ending, although I doubt they will

 

It's hard for me to compare yet. I will say BCS doesn't have people I actively hate every minute they're on screen *coughMariecough* casting has been pretty perfect

 

Also obviously you're not supposed to like Walter White. This show you root for Jimmy and I have really been in no hurry for him to go full Saul

 

As a huge fan of Breaking Bad, I can say with full confidence that this show is better overall.

 

I think this show has been better for quite a while. BB unfortunately does not lend itself well to rewatches, it's a one-and-done type show. BCS gets better every single time somehow

 

this thread is a weird twilight zone version of the rest of the world, lol.

 

It's possible BCS will overhaul it but I'd say unlikely. BCS has the recency aspect and, in a couple of aspects, it's better and even more precisely made. But overall, BB is a step above and pretty obviously so in my opinion.

 

Better Call Saul has been amazing, I care more about Jimmy and Kim than I ever did for anyone in BB (give or take a Jesse), but I'm still waiting for Nacho to get his due. Such an interesting character thats been underused every single season IMO, every second we get of Gus feels like a retread of beats we already got in BB, and time I'd much rather spend with Nacho.

I agree that Nacho should be in every goddamn episode but I think he's had plenty of meaty stuff. that one-take raid scene with the Cousins last season or when he was practicing switching Hector's pills are among the tensest material from either show

 

Exactly why I want more, but maybe too much of a good thing would dilute it. It just feels like he gets 3 episodes a season, but it's been awhile since I've done a full rewatch. I'm probably just getting antsy cause the end is in sight

 

fully get you. honestly as much as I love Banks the stuff with Mike this season hasn't been doing much for me. I would happily have lost some of that for some more of that Nacho/Lalo good shit

 

I'm not quite on board with Lalo yet, he still feels like a parody

 

Lalo is way less of a cartoon character than Tuco was in BB lol

 

exactly! I like the Salamances but it's nice to have a break from "so psyschopathic they're barely human" (Tuco, Hector) and "barely even characters cos they're basically a cipher" (the cousins). Lalo is much more believable, and threatening because of the way he can slip in and out of different modes depending on who he's in the room with, instead of just being 100% all the damn time

I'm dreading Lalo getting like his own "boxcutter" moment or something where the guy's just done playing

 

BCS is better than BB but it has the advantage of most of its characters and tone being worked out in Breaking Bad.

 

One thing I’ll say about Lalo is they’re definitely not over-playing him. Like many good villains in cinema he’s been on the screen just the right amount thus far imo. He’s definitely eccentric, and they’re showing just enough of him to keep me second guessing how he’s gonna end up playing in the season/series.

 

I'm going back through BB right now with my wife, who's never watched it, and Tuco is way more of a caricature of a quick-tempered crazy drug dealer than Lalo has been up to this point. I'm actually kind of shocked because I remember Tuco being over-the-top but he's even more so than I recalled prior to this re-watch.
