At my college, I have a few students that work for me under the Work Study federal program. They only work about 4-8 hours a week helping me in the labs earning about $12/hr so it’s not a lot. We were told they are not allowed to come in to work, but we are allowed to pay them, referring to past average hours they worked this semester. That’s really cool of em

My office is doing this bizarre scheduling thing where they’re having half of us work from home every other day and half of us go in. Today is my day to work from home, but my wife had to go to work and she told me the road was a ghost town. Normally Monday morning traffic here is congested as hell and takes a good forty minutes to get to work. She got there in about fifteen minutes today. She works at a daycare (which means that if we haven’t already gotten it, we’re almost definitely getting it at some point) and today they have seven kids total. Normally it’s somewhere around seventy.

 

My bachelor party this weekend will now consist of my closest friends staying in playing video games and drinking. Aka still a perfect weekend

 

A coworker has a part-time job at a hardware store. She says they're selling an insane amount of guns and ammo. Pretty cool.

I'm from the UK and work for the NHS in paediatric community services. The amount of people in my office with dry coughs, spluttering away (fevers a few days ago)...astounding. I told colleagues they really have to go home... didn't listen. Told our boss (don't care how unpopular that makes me) and she did nothing. If the NHS is so incompetent, god help the rest of the country. In the schools I visit, loads of kids have coughs but they keep coming to school because parents are scared they'll get fined for poor attendance and schools also have attendance targets to meet, so they encourage children back asap. There's no flexibility. Bureaucracy will literally kill us. I wonder how history will look back at these few weeks and the inaction that's been taken.

I live in the South but I'm originally from England but American gun culture still blows my mind. 2 of my coworkers were just discussing loading up on ammo because they're afraid their suburbs will be targeted by looters as soon as the inevitable lock down happens. One guy plans to leave the city to go to his farm in Alabama with his guns before that happens, and the other guy apparently will spend the entire week paranoid his nice house in the suburbs will be robbed. It's like they can't wait to exercise their 2nd amendment right and defend 'their families'.
