Lori is the goddamn song whisperer.

Also nice continuity since she wrote 3 songs on Wild Hope and one of the prettiest on Amanda Leigh.

 

Not many better co-writers out there right now. She's great at helping drive the lyrical side of a song without drowning out the style and voice of the artists she works with.

 

Exactly. I feel like I know her style enough from her own records and it never supplants the style of the artist at hand.

 

not to take away from the lori assist but mandy’s really come into her own as a lyricist imo

 

There's definitely a much more prominent/identifiable sense of voice on this than on her previous records.

 

Yeah, definitely not trying to pull credit from Mandy. It's definitely her record and her vision, and there are some huge songwriting accomplishments across the board.

 

Just head the LA song so far, excited to dive in later. Pretty great that she and her husband both have great songs name-checking Los Angeles now.

 

Ha, I had the same thought. "Time Spent in Los Angeles" really encapsulates my feelings about LA.

 

First Dawes song I ever heard and immediately knew they were special:

You got that special kind of sadness

That only comes from time spent in Los Angeles
Makes me wanna wrap you in my arms

 

Yep, the first one for me, too. And still one of my favorites.

I listened through this whole thing once on my drive home the other night, and there were 5 songs from it that I saved on my Spotify. Half the album! Not bad.

 

My buddy and I love Mandy Moore and we thought it'd be funny if there was a Mandy shirt that looked like it was made for a punk band. We couldn't find one so I designed this lastnight. Ordered one for myself to make sure it's gonna look cool, but I'm pretty stoked, haha!

 

So happy for her after all she went through she deserves it

 

News made me smile. I saw one of the residency shows in LA and Taylor looked like he was having the time of his life playing “Candy” and all I could think about was how Ryan Adams was such an asshole about the early stages of her music career. They seem like they have such a supportive partnership

 

She hinted at new music coming soon in her Instagram story. Not sure if it’s holiday music or just coming out for the holidays

been listening to a lot of mike viola this week actually. cool to see them continue to work together, even though i didn’t love her last one

 

Yeah the work they did on Amanda Leigh is gorgeous. Curious to see if she spends some time primarily focusing on music once This Is Us wraps
