I can't tell if you're joking or not, but a reminder that Charlotte broke a 3 year undefeated streak for what amounted to no rub whatsoever WHILE THEY KNEW SHE WAS INJURED and then got cashed in on two days later. If that is in play, all imaginable dumbassery is possible.

 

That’s honestly my biggest beef with WWE. They have all the tools to be great. A crazy roster, a network infrastructure. More money than god. And still, Goldberg.

 

At the end of the day, WWE cater to their audience. And during Wrestlemania season, there’s a hell of a lot more casual fans turning up and turning on to see legends and the big stars they want to see. It’s always been that way. It’s mostly why I don’t watch much main roster stuff this time of year because it’s not worth getting wound up about. The event will most likely deliver (the best Manias are always the ones with shit builds)

Yeah, seeing Goldberg with the belt sucks. And having him take it off Bray sucks more. But it’s temporary. Just like all storylines with legends. You grin and bare it.

Or you just stop watching altogether, that way you’re not moaning every god damn day.

 

Oh I’m not joking - after seeing them put Goldberg over the fiend I am terrified about the Charlotte Rhea booking

The men's elimination chamber match is cancelled now? Lmao what a fuckin joke

 

Just caught up with the PPV, some thoughts:

- Great show, and right up there with Double or Nothing for their best shows
- Hager/Dustin was nothing special, and kinda showed how limited Hager actually is. He was never a spectacular performer.
- Sammy/Darby ruled, third best match of the night
- Tag title match was insane, and definitely the best of the night. Agree that it went 5 minutes too long. Should've ended on the One Winged Angel spot
- Women's division is still struggling and needs refocusing.
- Cody/MJF was very good, but like, holy shit. Cody's tattoo is bad, MJF's spray tan was bad, but that Downstait performance was quite possibly the worst thing AEW has literally ever done. That was really fucking terrible and the band should be embarrassed, and AEW should be embarrassed for not sound checking them or ever watching them live before hand. My god, I could go on forever about that thing. Also, the face I made when MJF bit Cody's foot is indescribable but is entirely how one would envision it
- PAC vs. OC ruled and finally showcased how good Cassidy actually is. Dude is one of the absolute best out there, and this was such a good showing
- Moxley was absolutely the right choice here. He's the most over dude in the company, has been absolutely stellar since leaving WWE, and really is everything WWE isn't. It'll be interesting to see who they build up as a challenger to him because it could literally be anyone. I think MJF is a good challenger right now, but could also see Hager get a shot at Blood and Guts or something

 

Who do you guys actually think will be Mox's first big feud? Apart from Jericho, do they have any credible major heels rn? Pac? Hager? MJF?

 

First contender for the belt is usually a higher tier mid-card guy so Pac makes sense to me. Mox is gonna have the belt for a while

 

Pac/moxley will be fantastic if that’s the route they go. I actually think pac has probably been a top 3 guy for me in Aew which is crazy cause I never really like him in wwe but also never saw him as a heel and I think he’s the best heel in the company at the moment. In the future, I want pac to have a decently long run with the belt. Slays every promo, can wrestle against, say, luchasaurus-sized dudes or the Darby allins of the world.

 

Also pac/orange Cassidy i think was the most perfectly booked match last night. Wasn’t match of the night or even close to it — prob 4th best — but so many decisions going into that match that AEW make that wwe don’t make, which is why I love their product so much.

 

Pac breaking into a smile when the crowd was going ape shit for OC was fuckin perfect.

 

I don't think its going to be anything major but I can see AEW having their most decisive victory in the ratings so far this Weds.

 

Show was good, some thoughts

-I hated PAC vs OC at first because every OC singles match is usually the same but I'm pretty sure I've never seen one where OC goes that hard in the end.
-felt the tag title match went too long, but was still really good, and even though I'm in the minority of still not liking Hangman, I fucking popped like crazy when he did the One Winged Angel, that was definitely the best moment of the night
-Cody vs MJF was good; even though I always find the Elite self indulgent, I seem to be one of the few who likes Cody's tattoo?

 

Apparently Mox said in the post-news conference that he wants to fight Cody for the title and he doesn't care about the stip because he isn't that kind of champion.


Definitely don't think that's next but it looks like they are planting that seed.

If Pac was the plan for Moxley, he should've won the iron man match with Omega. Kenny really didn't need it and it didn't serve much of a purpose otherwise(I suppose it set up the match with Cassidy, but there were other ways you could've done that).

 

I want to hear the bucks/omega and page talk about why they decided that the OWA spot from page didn’t end the match lol. It makes no sense. I know it wasnt omega who performed the move but it’s like the most sacred finisher in all of wrestling

 

Didn't one of the bucks come in and stop the 3 count?

I think it's an amazing moment when you have the feeling of 'oh that's gotta be the end' and then it's not. I don't need everything to be logical, just be entertaining. That was as entertaining as it gets!

 

I am torn between the AEW Tag Title match and the PAC/OC match as my match of the night - both were great in their own way, one an incredible masterpiece of layered storytelling in pro wrestling, the other a great example of how to work a crowd and exceed expectations.

What a fun show.
