completely agree, but their weekly tv hasn't come close to the same highs at all imo.

 

I’m not saying NXT isn’t putting on good shows - I still will watch those weekly episodes but currently AEW is more interesting to me character wise and story wise

 

What happened in the Cody MJF match?

 

One year later: MJF has been new champion since Double or Nothing, and Darby Allin takes it off him.

 

Its funny, I find Cody and Mox's styles almost opposite. We know Ambrose can actually mat wrestle and do the technical stuff, but it in no way fits his look. Cody looks exactly like a technician; his style should be like Cesaro basically, and yet he books himself in these brawls that fit a guy looking like Mox. Basically, Cody thinks he's Darby Allen.

Im excited for Mox to be champ for a little while, and then give me Omega v Mox at All Out with Omega taking the belt. And we can be where we rightfully should have been from the start, with the greatest wrestler on the planet carrying the company...and putting over someone like a Darby down the line to make a big star.

It's fair, I'm just giving you shit, buddy. AEW has a swath of untapped storylines and limitless directions to go. And even though I don't want them on the main roster and don't know where else they'd go, am hesitant on Gargano/Ciampa yet again being one of the top feuds. NXT feels like it could use a soft reset in some regards but has no where to send their talent (especially with former talent like Finn returning)

 

i wonder if any of yall agree with this - the next two years of NXT are going to be really telling. they really hit their stride when they started the cycle of bringing in the new hot indie guy every three months. that sounds like shade but it's not, it was amazing. but theres just less and less of those big names getting heat on the indies and a lot of the ones that are and will and the future have ins with people in AEW. i do genuinely wonder if the call ups are going to be much much rarer as NXT focuses more on Evolve as a feeder than all of the indies as a feeder.

Yeah, I feel like I should state this: I'm harsh on AEW because of how good it has been. If it wasn't, I wouldn't be posting about it at all.

 

Yeah, ultimately, this still didnt touch Takeover: New Orleans.

This is where Im getting too. I see Wrestlemania being like 15 matches long and I just cringe.

I usually only watched Takeovers and not the week to week TV until they went live; feels like AEW has enough going for it now that they are worth the week to week watch.

Another smart move by AEW is something NXT used to do which is not using the same wrestlers ever week - no one on AEW feels over saturated

I agree, and the thing that worries me about NXT is that its not a money maker in an era where SD + RAW are. If you strip away a lot of their big indie signings (Lee, Ciampa, Gargano, Cole, Riddle...and then women like Io and Candice), the actual performance center core is pretty weak. You could make Dream champ, but, who's homegrown he could even feud with?

I suspect its something that'll work itself out as TUE or Ciampa/Gargano get called up...they always find the next answer...but the last two years have been such an indie hot streak that their PC people are all jobbers. Usually by now they'd have worked their magic and turned an Aliyah into something.

 

My fantasy booking - Moxley holds the belt throughout the summer loses to MJF and then after 3-4 month reign Hangman wins it and becomes the biggest face in the world

 

I still think Omega is a year or so away from holding the heavyweight gold

 

Agreed. He needs to do it as a heel, too.

 

Really think Moxley will have his first feud with Archer and then move on to someone like MJF
