I don't understand exactly how a socialist "government" would work but I'm assuming it would be more of a group worker effort than it is now if that makes any sense. I'm guessing there would be some type of oversight and also meetings to report to to make sure everything is running smoothly? A full Socialist society is hard for me to imagine because it's so different from how everything is run now, but I think it's the long term goal for a lot of Democratic Socialists.

I mean I don't really know what that would look like nor do I see it as the vision Bernie has (which is who I am on board with) - which is massively overhauling the systems we already have in place through a variety of measures that ultimately end up in shifting the power dynamics to the people. There are far too many policy positions to cover that end up in that result but that's the idea as I understand it.

 

@RamonaQuimby I don't really want to steer you wrong and if you've been doing research on your own you are likely forming your own conclusions and know more about these things than I so stick with your gut and if you feel it's right for you then that's okay! I'm no expert so I can't really answer a lot of questions you have on certain things..there as smarter people in here that probably can lol

 

I believe libertarianism was associated with the left in places like europe before dumb americans took the word and ayn randed it up

edit: that is not to say europeans are not dumb either

 

much like socialism, libertarian socialism is chiefly concerned with socializing private enterprise.

but idk what libertarian socialists would do beyond that, would they also work to facilitate the idea that civil liberties should include the right to health care, education, jobs, and housing? what would they do with the health care industry or with academics?

Yes I'm on board with him too and I know that he is basically just trying to reform capitalism and create more of a welfare state. I was just reading today that people don't know why he is saying he is a Democratic Socialist tho when he is more of a Social Democrat who is proposing a mixed economy. I am in full support of that though because I know our country could not go any more left than Bernie right now.

 

I know we aren’t really talking about golf anymore but just want to take this opportunity that my family went to top golf with @dylan around thanksgiving and he is absolute dogshit at it and I absolutely crushed him.

 

Those are all very good questions that pique my interests a ton!!! I'm going to look if there's any books/documentaries on it. Let me know if you find anymore good info too.

I can't remember what show I was watching but they referred to golf as "big golf" cause they were talking about mini golf just prior and I chuckled
