    Give what you can.

Oh these here glasses beg to differ my friend. Clearly the hippest hipster to ever hip her way through hipstown.

  2. I'm dumbfounded that people like The Middle so much. To me it literally sounds like the band decided it's time they got paid. And I *love* that album.

And calling my Taylor Swift comment sexist is really insulting, given how calculated and constructed her outside persona is. And I also say that as a huge fan of her last two albums.

I mean, it was a little sexist to imply that that's the only song she likes. Women get that all the time. It's the classic "oh you're a fan? Name 5 deep cuts and who the bass player was on their first album" kind of thing. I'm not saying you yourself are sexist, that comment just came across poorly.

And ya those first two Swift albums are p good. Red will always have my heart though

  4. I meant the last two.

Still, the fact is that most people know Jimmy Eat World from The Middle.
And actually, I do have to backtrack on the statement I made, as not only is Taylor a huge Jimmy Eat World fan, her and Jim Adkins are actually friends and she even brings him out on tour sometimes. So, my bad.
    But also fuck The Middle.

Oh I misread my bad. I've cooled on 1989 a bit but it's still a good record.

Yeah there's videos of her and Jim singing songs and just taking on stage. It's adorable

  6. Was it The Middle? ;-p

And yeah, I'm with you on that one, Red had way more staying power.

"The Middle" was good when I first heard it.

It was still good after that, I just got tired of it for a little while.

And it's still good now that I'm no longer tired of it.

The whole people hating The Middle thing reeks a lot of "sell out" criticism and wanting to dislike songs just because they're popular

I like The Middle enough. It's not that I dislike it because it's popular, I've just heard it SO MUCH throughout my life. I've seen it on tv, heard it on buses, heard it at theme parks, blasted it with my friends riding the roads, used it for an advertisement project in high school, and so on. I still like it though

A lot of us have been listening to the song for over 15 years. It first hit the radio in 2001. I don't think you can imagine how often that song was played. It was everywhere.

guess I can't identify because I didn't hear the song until I was 17, which is when I checked out the full BA album. But also, even hearing songs a lot just doesn't affect me like that, idk, different strokes.

Not sure how you can deny that the song has a great hook. There's a reason it's one of their most well known songs. I didn't even know what that song was called for years but I still knew the hook because it was so instantly memorable.

I love "The Middle," but when I listen to it, it's like I'm in fourth grade again. I generally associate JEW with later in my life, so it's sort of weird to go back to that one. It's like this kind of odd cognitive dissonance. But holy fuck, I think I heard that song every day on the way to school for that entire spring.

It's just really annoying to me. They have so many songs with great hooks that don't come off as obnoxious, but that isn't one of them.

Yeah I've been hearing that song since like 6th grade or so, it's just one of those pop culture things I'll always remember, even if I don't really care for it all that much.

I realized also yesterday that Bleed American has probably three of my five least favorite JEW songs, which really doesn't help it even if I love all eight others.
