I'll probably just hold off until the release, but man that title is terrible.

Single is fine. NFG was my favorite band for years but I just grew out of them and haven't ever really been able to get back. Don't see that changing here. Still love their love shows, though.

I'm sure there is a good deal of their fanbase that don't know it leaked. Like someone else said earlier, them mentioning it would just draw attention to it.

Yeah but now people are gonna see how the album is bad and the casual listener is no longer gonna listen.

yowwww. maybe an error on the DSP end? I don't deal w Apple much but I've had Spotify trouble with albums going live but not listing under artist pages, albums being "active" but not showing up on the platform at all etc, so it's plausible that things could mistakenly go live early.

Oliver Appropriate leaked a few months early and I always thought it was weird that the record label didn’t care/address it. (I know the circumstances were different, since Max had already called off the tour to support this album in 2018, so maybe the record label didn’t really care about how well it did)

but I also get a feeling that not a whole lot of people know the NFG leaked? Didn’t see much on reddit or in the instagram comments of the album and video announcements

there is no happy here Prestigious

Which is exactly why they shouldn't address it. Your average NFG fan isn't going to know about the leak unless they draw attention to it so it's best to just go on and say nothing.

  12. I remember in 2005 when Alkaline Trio's Crimson and Motion City Soundtrack's Commit This To Memory both leaked in like January and they had May and June releases respectively - definitely happened way more a decade ago than it does now.

This could totally be apples to oranges, because NFG have changed it up a bit over the years, but look at a band like Breaking Benjamin. Each release is very similar. They stick to something comfortable that has worked for them, whether that's a positive thing or not.

Regarding the leak, and I have no basis for this, but it's the internet. I'm sure news of it spread enough that a good number of fans know.

Might be a bad comparison because I’m not a huge AC/DC fan but to me NFG is kinda like AC/DC of pop punk. Within like 5 seconds of a song you instantly know who the band is. They don’t change the formula too much but they do what they do very well. Lyrics could be about anything.

It pains me to say this, but this is easily my least favorite album by them (with maybe the exception of NGCS). Seriously bummed out right now. There’s small parts in some songs that I dig, but nothing That I love. Most of the songs are super fast paced with no real memorable/standout moments.

If y’all like NGCS and ISHC (my least favorite material by them) then you will probably dig this

  19. I wouldn’t say this is like NGCS like, at all

I’ve always considered it the least catchiest/worst sounding album of theirs and this is both of those things as well

I really like it for what it is! I didn’t have any expectations but this is plain’ol NFG to me. Nothing special, nothing bottom of the barrel. Ive never been one to look to them for lyrical content to begin with. If that’s the case, I go to Bad Religion and Rise Against for that stuff. NFG brings the energy here. Can’t go wrong with that. Cyrus kills it on this album too.

but yes, I wish Will Pugh was involved bc he did FANTASTIC with the covers album. Not my favorite, but also not my least favorite from them. This will be in heavy rotation during runs and workouts.

Album reminds me of all those early 2010 ish pop punk bands that wanted to sound like NFG, but imo didn’t come close. Like Handguns, Man Overboard, TWY’s The Upsides (which I did hate when it came out but later became of fan of the band, and that was TWY’s second album, this is NFG’s 10th).

I’m just kinda shocked right now lol, I’ve never not liked a NFG album and this one may be it. They’re just capable of so much better. Especially as a follow up to MMS, this is disappointing, and not the direction I would’ve thought they’d go.

Take your pick: This output from NFG, or Father Of All from Green Day. (I'd take this in a heartbeat)

lol I did think about you while listening thinking “well he’s right about this being a good album to run/workout to”

It’s definitely not a good album to listen to when you have an annoying/painful kink in your neck from sleeping wrong (that’s me today)
