Douglas Pearce does a vocal feature on the Alk3 song "I Found A Way"

Pearce's band, Death In June, uses Nazi imagery in it's packaging, production, & lyrics CONSTANTLY. They insist it's purely used for satirical critique. However Pearce is anti-immigrant, says he "has no problem with euro-centric racialism", and says he personally alligns with "Second Revolutionaries" an organization that's fundamentally the "liberal wing" of the Nazi party.

Blink seem to have a lot of shows coming up in the summer...hopefully they'll have an EP out by then.

 

Hopefully it’s not just the collabs. I have absolutely no interest in that. Give me a deluxe version of Nine with a couple of acoustic tracks, the japan b-side, and a couple of others. No collabs.

Nine’s really good and I want to hear more of what they do together so I’d be in for a Nine Deluxe. Even working different producers changed the songs up a bit within the album. I don’t really know the artists they are collaborating with either. Maybe their would be something cool out of it, but my personal expectations aren’t high or u realistic.

The fact of the matter is that this thread will never get back to normal, which may be good or may not be, but I really see no reason to stay here and see the same argument play out over and over again. Peace out.

I think it’s definitely odd that Blink are one of the only bands that seem to get some sort of a pass on this website. I’m not saying other bands with problematic members should get a pass, just that if we heavily criticize those members, we shouldn’t be able to not criticize Blink.

I’ve felt like for a while this thread is like a clique. If you’re not a part of the clique your opinion doesn’t matter (and to clarify, I’m not talking about things like album ranking opinions). If you don’t like Blink your opinion doesn’t matter. This is a vibe I honestly don’t get with any other bands or musicians on this website.

I think the mentality that “me not buying a ticket to their shows or streaming their music won’t change anything” is the wrong mentality to have. If you truly believe that a musician is promoting things or doing things against your morals, the least you can do is stop your support. Even if that doesn’t lead to change right away, it’s at the very least one less person funding their career.

There are plenty of bands and musicians out there who would love your support who aren’t shitty people (some who sound like Blink and can fill the void). Perhaps go check them out instead.

 

I mean this is a blink thread. I can only speak for myself but I DO listen to and patronize many other bands. The only clique mentality that I see is that the folks in this thread are blink fans. Discourse is discourse. From my POV there’s a clique that likes to drop in here to pointedly make fun of a group that’s very much talking about issues and actively disappointed about all the same things and how is that gonna get anything accomplished?
Maybe ask for the thread to be shut down. Is there an active brand new thread with people defending them or Jesse? If there are, I wouldn’t know because why give them the time? I’ve heard the arguments and seen the evidence. Let me deal with it in my own way. I’d say the hostility there’s been in the conversation hasn’t been coming from inside the house.

I’m pretty sure I’m more excited for new AVA then I was for NINE. Especially after seeing AVA in October and realizing how well their songs aged.

Plus, David Kennedy is the man. He’s always at his coffee shop willing to chat about anything. Tom, BCR, new AVA, other music, coffee business, motorcycles...

 

I still don't understand how focusing on people not taking a "nicer" tone when it comes to issues such as racism, homophobia, misogyny and domestic violence has anything to do with the complacency problem of the band members. People are upset about very serious issues that they may deal with on a daily basis that seem to be a reoccurring problem not only with this band, but the whole "scene" in general. Being severely underrepresented and barely spoken for unless you're fighting tooth and nail for it is going to take it's toll eventually. Stating facts about the actions and what's presented isn't an "attack" or trying to force anyone to feel bad for continuing to support and listen. If that's your conflict after being presented with the reality of their willful actions, that sounds more like a personal problem. There are probably a few genuine "troll" comments littered throughout these conversations. Just because you don't like someone's tone when calling out a flaw in your logic or the band members actions, doesn't mean you're being "attacked." I'm not going to end and begin every sentence with "I'm sorry but" because I'm not sorry for laying things out plainly and blatantly, and to insinuate that just because someone isn't posting in this thread every day that they're only goal here is to cause "trouble" because they talk about issues when they are brought up is pretty ridiculous. This isn't anyones "house" it's a public forum where public actions are being discussed as such and the gatekeeping tone policing nonsense is just that, nonsense.

 

He released a fucked up toxic video only a few months ago ... let’s not pretend he’s innocent and clean as a savior here.

 

Let's also not pretend that Travis isn't perfectly fine with lifting up a super toxic and horrible person and putting his band's name on aforementioned person's posthumous album. Just taking Matt out of the equation isn't the answer

 

Mark literally said he’s tired of outrage and cancel culture. I know the easy thing to do is just act like Matt is the only one bad in the band, but Mark and Travis' hands aren’t clean.

 

always telling when someone comes out against “cancel culture” right before they do some cancel-worthy stuff (like featuring on an XXXTentacion album, for example)

 

Let’s not pretend for a second that any version of Blink was some wholesome band.
