I legit enjoy this song, standard pop punk

 

somebody above just said this is much bigger than skiba and blink 182, this is about racism, fascism, and Nazism. To actually fight those very real issues, and this might just be me who knows, you have to do more than stop listening to blink 182

Edit: and this is my complaint every time this issue comes up, tweeting about shitty skiba and burning my blink records does nothing against a white supremacist president that just expanded the rules of the Muslim ban, the growing power of our nation's secret police (ICE), and the growing number of Nazis in your home town. Everyone talks about how insulting it is to keep listening to blink after all this...the bigger insult is that folks think that because they've stopped listening, they've done their part. Pathetic.

 

i mean yes absolutely, you are not wrong. racism and bigotry does not end if say matt skiba is axed from blink 182, but, the band becoming associated with it by standing by him is something that, if i were mark, i'd care VERY much about, and it doesn't seem like he does, which is wholly unfortunate/disappointing. ceasing your support of a band as a means of protesting one of their disgusting members, is not a bad way to express your pain and spread awareness, though.

 

I personally don’t give a shit what anyone listens to in their free time. I do think continuing to buy tickets to their shows or buying their records/giving them streams is something worth thinking about at this point though.

 

My thing is that no one gives a shit if I don't go to blink shows or don't listen to their albums, the only thing that changes is that I'm sadder, so like :/

 

Also valid, think we've known for ages that record sales and Spotify listens return relatively small value compared to shows and merch. Sponsors too.

 

Knowing what's come out I would 100% support him being kicked out of blink, wouldn't bat an eye.

 

honestly? I’d go just to see Simple Plan. Saw them a couple months ago. They sounded so good and the crowd was really into them. Surprisingly the crowd was diverse too. I thought it was going to be full of youngsters. Nope.

If you’re close personal friends with Nazis, read a ton of Nazi/fasc writings and boost them on your Instagram page, endorse Nazi imagery, and deflect/dissemble rather than deny that you’re a Nazi when directly confronted about it...

This song is massively underrated imo. Only Simple Plan single I can think of that doesn't bore or annoy me.

Why isn’t anyone mentioning Dan or Derek, or other ex-Alk3 members? Matt works with more than Travis and Mark. If this is all a legit concern, reach out to those dudes and see what they do or don’t say. Food for thought.

Yea, thanks, I did. Didn’t see anyone mention personally reaching out to Dan or Mike (ex-drummer) or Jarrod Alexander — leave Derek out of it for the meantime. These guys worked intimately and closely with Matt. See what they have to say.

Yeah, well, hate to be the one to burst your bubble, but Mark & Travis are just a wee bit less likely to respond to a DM or whatever — that’s why I suggested reaching out to others he’s worked with that may take more time to have conversations with concerned fans.

 

I haven't suggested reaching out to anyone. I don't really understand the point of your posts. Matt has publicly posted nazi and misogynistic literature and imagery. Why would we need to reach out to people he has worked with to verify anything?

 

Yeah I mean, I don't need to have any conversations with anyone to reinforce my belief that he's a shit person for the things he seems to bump and promote on social media. Unsure what the goal of telling us to reach out to former band members is? All the evidence we need is plainly visible.

 

Because if somebody who’s art I enjoy is mainly collaborative, I’d like to know why these individuals continue to work with him when he demonstrates the behavior in question. The people who know him best, have worked with him the longest — why do they continue to do so, can they provide any insight, is this trend troubling them as much as it troubles us who are fans? Like a few others have said, Matt has always been an “out there” dude, but has this increasingly disturbing online behavior become a concern for friends of his, or those he works with, Dan being the main person I’m referencing for obvious reasons.
