Title Fight is not good. Hyperview is okay and that's the only thing worth mentioning that they've released.

Oh yeah, forgot about that one. I'd include that as a song worth mentioning as well.

I love that all of these bands are making mature music and alienating their fans with juvenile tastes because now I can finally go see them live and not have to be around a bunch of actual children.

making music with more mature influences- obvious Radiohead influence on new Balance track.

    honest position/question

don't you think that adopting a style out of the blue in such an obvious/basic/superficial manner is in fact more immature?

I feel many of these bands aren't THAT committed to their vision/voice, to the point that they just randomly switch genres into something else entirely because they get bored or something

If a band literally said on record that they switched genres or "sounds" out of boredom I wouldn't bat an eye to be honest. What is B&C's "vision" anyways?

I really don't care about a band's reasons for shifting in sound if I like the music. And if I don't like it, they're doing what they want and that's cool too.

Headswell by Sainthood Reps is also worth checking out - one of the better (and more underrated) albums from this 'scene'

  12. I disagree with the sentiment that trying new things with your music is "immature", no matter the reason for doing it

    Intent in what exactly?

And what do you mean by superficial? Because it sounds like your using that word to describe an artist trying to adapt incorporate new influences into their sound, which seems a little off to me. Sorry if I'm misreading you, just trying to see where you're coming from

I love the turnover record, lyrics are a little cheesy at times but it feels like it's done on purpose if that makes sense.. Makes it easy to digest which is the type of album they were going for.

Enjoyed the new b&c track, may check them out on their tour, mainly to see foxing but idk

The new single is all I've been able to listen to lately. Hopefully I don't wear it out.

    an example

Smash Mouth unleash EDM song as skies darken and oceans boil

on a more serious note, the "hey, let's add electronic flourishes to this song a la Radiohead" is a cheap and annoying tendency that irks me - it is not a progression in sound, it does not equal incorporating new elements into a band's sound... it's just like using an Instagram filter on a picture... superficial

EDIT: I am not saying Rh is guilty of this - they are boring for other reasons ; )

do they actually though? have they said anything public supporting him? calling him a good guy in public?

If it's something they haven't done before, and it compliments the song, I don't understand how it isn't a progression. Other bands might have done it before, but this is something B&C hasn't done and it is working.

I respectfully disagree, I think it's a basic, predictable, and calculated "we're mature now" move

I'll still listen to the record, tho - this kind of situation sometimes result in endearing albums, and I like that
