I didn't say bad! It's just not my thing. They're tight live.

I'm trying to get into more contemporary bands in this style (whatever you would call it... Emo? Melodic hardcore?), because Balance and Composure is pretty much the only one I've regularly listened to. What are some of the best albums from similar artists from the last few years I should check out? I saved a bunch of albums by Title Fight, Basement, Tigers Jaw, Citizen, Seahaven, and Turnover on my Apple Music. I'm just wondering where to start lol.

  3. If I had to pick an album from each of the bands you mentioned, I'd start with Floral Green by Title Fight (one of my all-time favorites), Colourmeinkindness by Basement, Charmer by Tigers Jaw and Reverie Lagoon by Seahaven (another favorite of mine, but much closer to indie rock than B&C). Then, check out Hyperview by Title Fight, which completes their transition to shoegaze. Skip Citizen and Turnover, haha. I'll have to check if there's anything else I would recommend off-hand.

You can skip Citizen but Turnover-Peripheral Vision is really good.

Another one you could add to that is Prawn. Check out their record Kingfisher if you haven't. Also I'd say Moving Mountains has a similar sound on their record Waves. I personally love that record. A couple others off the top of my head are Dikembe, The Hotelier, and Superheaven (those might be a stretch though but are all great bands in my opinion).

  7. @beachdude42 I'm gonna go ahead and recommend Cloakroom's Further Out as well, especially if you like Hum and Pedro the Lion

  8. I was sitting in class last week looking down at my Title Fight shirt thinking, "damn I wish Title Fight would follow up Floral Green already" and it took me until two hours later when I googled what year FG came out that I remembered Hyperview exists.

I have listened to Brand New, in fact they're one of my favorite bands... but yeah most of those others I haven't touched much. Moving Mountains' self-titled is the only album I've heard by them so I've heard that one, but never listened to too much by them.

  14. PBTT, La Dispute and Joyce Manor are good picks, not sure I would include bands like Appleseed Cast, mewithoutYou or Brand New with the wave of bands he was referring to

Oh yeah, I have heard PBTT's Keep You as well, but that's the only album I've heard by them. I think that's it as far as albums mentioned so far that I've heard... Have never been able to get into La Dispute or mwY, but I'll give them another shot.

If it wasn't mentioned already, (I'm at work, tought to scroll through everything.) Jar by Superheaven has so many jams. Also the newest MWY album is (I think) one of their best. Absolutely worth the time invested.

Don't sleep on Citizen. Their latest album was as decisive as the latest B&C record.

citizen's new record was at least a little more interesting than their boring other stuff but i don't think they're very good songwriters

If you like BalCo then I think skipping Citizen would be a pretty bad move.

Also I posted about them earlier in the thread, but Safe To Say is a great band that any BalCo fan should like. Start with the Hiding Games EP and then move on to the most recent LP if it interests you at all.

Not enough love for this band, what a fun album. Good recs w/ Reverie Lagoon and Proper as well.

Reverie Lagoon has such a nostalgic vibe for me and I can't quite pinpoint why I feel that way about it.
