I understand the NBA's move here and the state gov deserves it but it sucks to punish the fans who, for the most part, don't agree with the law.

It's quite interesting seeing the people on social media decry the All Star Game move, it's as if you took a toy from a child and now the child is just pouting and being hateful.

 

Pacers are going all in on a bid, that's cool. I don't see why not let LA have it a year early and let teams all have a chance at a bid for the following year.

Should be noted Charlotte is an incredibly liberal city and that the city, in its majority, is very upset about the issue. It isn't the capital and Raleigh doesn't speak for the whole state. I understand that it's an image issue and that there are more important aspects to this than basketball obviously, but it is a little unfair to the city that opposes the issue like everyone rightfully should, the team and the fans.

if i lived in charlotte (i dont) and gave a shit about the nba all-star game (i dont)..... i wouldnt care that the NBA moved from my city. You should be more supportive of the bigger stance at play here. Be proud that Silver and the NBA did this.

The problem is the people of Charlotte, who for the most part have expressed their displeasure with the law, are the ones paying the price (33m in taxes for arena upgrades). The upgrades were made for the purpose of getting this game. Now they have paid for those upgrades with no reward at the end because some people in Raleigh are scum.

The law is obviously awful and hateful but it's not hard to see why some of the people from Charlotte are upset about the whole thing. I think it stems more from frustration with how shitty things are in NC right now.

I can't speak for all the dipshit homophobes though. Those people are obviously fucked up.

 

Watching the USA/Argentina friendly right now. You would have no idea that this Argentina team once took home gold and beat USA in process. Even with a weaker US team, it's gonna be an easy gold. Bummed the Marc Gasol is out though, that USA Spain gold medal match could have at least been interesting.

 

I remember watching that game live on a little portable tv in the car. good memories. that Argentina team was sick. 2004, right?
